Espresso House Avenyn - Goeteborg

Wow. That chocolate ball is worth going to eat even if you don't like coffee but the good news is we love coffee and it was also amazing. I will be back for sure for more of both. Nice inside and plenty of outdoor seating. Service was also fast. If your in Sweden don't look for a Starbucks and go here.

This is Sweden's answer to Starbucks and you can find at least one in every village and city. Back in 2002, it was a chain called Condecco that differentiated itself by being the inly smoke free and brightly lit place and then came Expressohouse with cozy armchairs wonderful smells, eco-friendly gourmet coffee and tea choices. Expressohouse rode the cafe culture wave and now, when Starbucks finally arrived in Gothenberg, nobody cares. In fact Starbucks feels like a 2nd rate copy of Expressohouse. Students hang out to study for the free wifi, friends meet, writers and designers sip their drinks while they work off the free wifi...tourists come in...to drink a coffee and check their mail on the free wifi...jk, its a veey pleasant place to have a quick break or linger with your kindle. Full selection of coffee, hot and cold tea drinks, sandwiches, yogurt, baked goods.

Well, I am indeed a fan of EHs hot drinks like latte and chai latte, and along Avenyn there aren't many good coffee shops, so i guess I'd say this one is my favorite. Still it is not very sexy. Actually I am no big fan of these places located in malls. They seldom gets very cozy. And I want a café to be either cozy or cool. This is none of that. But, if you are this high up on Avenyn and dying for coffee I'd still recommend this place before any of the others. At Avenyn I'd actually rather have a beer than coffee. They accept AMEX.
