While the ambiance adds charm, service inconsistencies and food quality seem to detract from the experience. Patrons have noted slow service, lukewarm meals, and watered-down drinks, though certain dishes like the Sea Bass, Halibut, and ribs received positive mentions. Despite the inviting atmosphere suitable for celebrations, many suggest that an update to the venue and improvement in service would elevate it from a passable option to a must-visit dining destination.
We visited on February 15th for a belated Valentine's dinner. I ordered the filet mignon stuffed with a cheese blend, which was incredibly delicious. I highly recommend this dish to everyone and will definitely be ordering it again in the future. My partner had the rack of lamb, which was beyond amazing. The lamb was tender and juicy, perfectly cooked to my liking (not pink, as I dislike pink meat). Joe, the owner, made sure to check on us and engage in conversation, giving us a personal touch that made us feel special. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and will definitely be returning to the Golden Spur multiple times in the future. This is a restaurant that I will keep coming back to.
Transport yourself back to the 1950s-1960s and indulge in the retro decor and made-to-order dishes of a classic steakhouse. The nostalgic ambiance of this era adds an extra layer of charm to your dining experience.
I left the restaurant after being ignored by the waiter for half an hour. Despite having to repeatedly ask for water, it took a long time to receive my salad, which was warm and had all the dressing at the bottom. Even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. The service was unacceptable and I have never experienced such poor service before. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.
We had dinner on February instead of the in an attempt to avoid the inevitable craziness on Valentine's Day. While the food was very good, the service was poor. I think our waiter, whom we've had in the past, and who we actually requested for the evening, was simply overwhelmed with a very full dining room Just the same, the food was delicious. The Shrimp Diane is TO DIE FOR!!!! And because it was also our anniversary, we were given a complimentary piece of Joe's Cheesecake ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CHEESE CAKE I HAVE EVER EATEN!!! Not too dense, as some cheesecake can be The owner's brother chatted with us for a while, and encouraged us to try the newer pasta dishes on our next visit, which we will definitely do.
Had a wonderful time at Golden Spur celebrating my birthday and dad's birthday. The owner of the restaurant was so gracious and hospitable to come over to introduce himself and to wish us happy birthday!
