This charming hotel, which dates back 116... read more It's not the easiest place to find, located behind a Fonterra milk processing plant, but what a delightful hidden gem! This charming hotel, which dates back 116 years, features just six rooms that still capture the spirit of 1916. While the ambiance is historic, all the amenities are modern. The bar and small dining area are contemporary, well-designed, and very comfortable. Local residents are friendly and eager to chat. There's also a designated area near the bar where children can play. The management is laid-back and trusting, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night in Room 5, along with a lovely meal. The rural history here is something to truly appreciate. Thank you, Sam!

The rooms were amazing;... read more We chose to stay here based solely on the reviews, and they were absolutely spot on! Sam, the staff, and the locals were all wonderful. The rooms were amazing; it was my first time sleeping in a four-poster bed, and it was incredibly comfortable. It’s only a 15-minute drive to Riverstone Kitchen and the castle. Thank you, Sam! We’ll definitely be back!

Really friendly and hospitable, great food and nice, new and clean rooms, all set in a historic hotel. Absolutely cannot fault it and will definitely stay again. 10 out of 10
