For me, the thing that makes or breaks a cafe is the service. And the staff here were spot on. As soon as I entered I was welcomed. They were busy but it wasn’t a problem to try and find a seat. All staff were attentive and happy to help when needed. They were all friendly with big smiles and it complemented the warm cozy and bustling space. Now onto the food. Coffee: Perfect. What BenYorkie doesn't like about Spout:
Great staff and what seeemd a good menu. We enjoyed the cappucino coffee one of the best we have had in Melbourne. Food wise it was OK for us we had the deconstructed pitta options both vegetarian. Nice enough and reasonably served/prsented but such food iwas not getting us excited. Pity View all feedback.
Excellent coffee and service delivered promptly with a large smile. Warm welcoming feeling and customer service.
Popped down the main street and chose Sprout because of its lovely benches outside, perfect on a Sunny day. The food was delicious, I had the smashed avocado with a side of holoumi and mushrooms and a coffee, all was great. Service was fast, efficient and friendly and pricing reasonable. Overall a great brunch choice,no complaints!
Since Spout opened, I have frequently enjoyed breakfast, brunch and lunch here. The clever design of the seating allows more people than you would expect to be accommodated at once. It does get very busy.....but the staff always seem to find everyone a table, you might need a little patience. The menu is compact but there is enough choice to satisfy. I lunch here with friends during the week and then bring my family for breakfast or brunch on the weekends. The staff are efficient and friendly (although Hugh was their greatest service asset and is no longer there). The tiny kitchen pumps out the dishes at a constant pace.....and keeps everyone happy. My kids can be fussy and want to change the menu items to simpler dishes, and that is thankfully never a problem. The Shakshuka and Mushroom dishes are the standouts for me. Baked goods displayed at the counter are fresh tasty. Definitely recommend!!
Dined mid afternoon and enjoyed the shakshuka with harissa mushrooms, potato and cauliflower sauce, accompanied with warm pita. Healthy combination and ideal portion size. My friend was pleased with the green superfood shakshuka. I'll try that next time. Overall, enjoyable experience and atmosphere for casual dining. Will go again.
A very limited range of cakes and/or biscuits, music far too loud, no cushions on the uncomfortable benches and … they even got the order wrong on the soy hot chocolate. With so many cafés around the place you just have to do better if you want repeat business from customers. They won’t be getting ours.
