Description

A hidden gem in Armadale, the Silky Apple offers simple yet enjoyable Chinese food in a nostalgic, old-school setting. The menu is extensive, with dishes like garlic king prawns, Mongolian beef, and Peking Duck that cater to families and couples alike. The attentive service and friendly staff add to the charm of this neighborhood restaurant, making it a great spot for a casual lunch or family dinner. While some diners have noted issues with service speed and noise levels, overall, the Silky Apple remains a popular choice for those seeking authentic Chinese cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.

Silky Apple, the restaurant, has closed its doors marking the end of an era. A sign on the door announces that the landlord has taken back possession of the premises.

The food at this restaurant is excellent. It was not great in the past, but the new management has greatly improved it. I would recommend it as there are not many good Chinese restaurants in the area.

Upon arriving around noon, I was initially concerned to see only one other party in the restaurant. However, more customers gradually arrived, creating a reasonable crowd. The owners, a couple, managed the floor. They first brought out some chicken pot stickers, and after learning that we all spoke Cantonese, they took our orders for the usual yum cha dishes such as har gow, siu mai, sticky rice chicken, bamboo rolls, and pork ribs. The pot stickers were flavorful but a bit oily. The rest of the dishes arrived promptly, with XLB (Xiao Long Bao) being offered as an additional option. The dim sum portions were generous, with the har gow containing two large prawns each. While the skins were slightly thick, they were bursting with flavor. The sticky rice was a tad bland, but there was plenty of meat inside. The pork ribs were lacking in meat, so I would recommend focusing on ordering more dumplings or rice noodle rolls next time. This local Chinese restaurant offers genuine and satisfying dishes, making it a perfect spot for a casual lunch if you are in the area. With easy parking and quick service, I appreciated the attentive service provided by the owners, which is something I rarely encounter in Chinese restaurants.

Went there last Wednesday with ordering a half roast duck. The duck was cook the very well, the skin was so crispy n the meat is flavoured. The steam rice was hot and sticky. Although the desserts only had mango pudding, it still tasted good n no that sweet

I have been dining at the Silky Apple for many years and I can't recommend it highly enough.   <br/ <br/ There is a broad menu with a fantastic range of dishes made from fresh produce that is of a consistently high quality. <br/ <br/ Raymond and his staff are friendly and easily adapt their menu to accommodate varied dietary requirements (i.e.: gluten free).<br/ <br/ On Sunday's they have Yum Cha but they allow you to also order off the main menu. <br/ I have been to a lot of restaurants that don't give you that option during Yum Cha.<br/ <br/ Great location and open two split dining levels.<br/ <br/ This restaurant will not disappoint.
