Having enjoyed the food and service at Fiztrovia in Fitzroy for many years, I was looking forward to trying their newer restaurant in Acland Street, Roxborough.... read more Having enjoyed the food and service at Fiztrovia in Fitzroy for many years, I was looking forward to trying their newer restaurant in Acland Street, Roxborough.Unfortunately, a somewhat disappointing experienceA reasonable size menu, with the wonderful polenta chips, which is a favourite at Fiztrovia, and an interesting selection for the rest.One of the fishes offered on the menu was a whole grilled snapper, with a tomato style salsa, which sounded very inviting. So, out of our party of 7, was ordered by 3 of us. The waiter took the order and returned a few minutes later and told us that the order could not be fulfilled as there was only one fish left for the evening. Fair dinkum, this is Melbourne on Saturday night, usually the busiest night of the week, and they tell us that at 8 o'clock that there is only one serve left of a main item form the menu. Really not good enough.The dinner who had the snapper said it was quite good-pity the rest of us could not join in.Another of our party had the gnocchi which she thought was bland and lacked flavour. She had about one mouthful, and left the rest. When the waitress, collected her nearly full plate the obvious question would have been "was it ok", or maybe "was there something wrong with the dish". Instead all our party was asked "have you finished". Not impressive from the customer service side, I can assure youThis restuarant offers food which is quite pleasant, as the other dishes testified, but some better performance is needed to ensure that it can deliver and pay attention to its customer's needs, which after all are basic

This is a bea... read more We dropped in after reading the reviews, ready for gnocchi however were salivating over the whole menu which was mouthwatering from top to bottom. This is a beautiful restaurant and the staff are exceptional. Not to mention the gnocchi which we finally settled on -best ever.

The food was amazing and everyone fell in love with the wait staff who were not fazed by everyone changing seats after ordering or a baby walking around between people! There were 21 of us and we took up most of the restaurant so the staff closed the front door letting us enjoy their space without other guests. This wasn't something we had asked for or discussed but it was a lovely touch!Thanks everyone for a fantastic experience, we'll be back again!
