NEVER EVER TRY PINK FLAKE NEVER DO THIS MISTAKE. Indian owners Hitesh and his staff is not capable enough to run his business. EVEN They don't know how to deal with guest. They don't know how to charge payments. Even the chef don't know the...recipe of food. I don't think that any of the dishes made in the real time...the temperature of the food was not good but I am sure they used microwave oven. The quality was just ok and the taste was very bad but nothing unusual, special or exciting. The quantity on each dish was unpleasantly moderate. The service was absolutely disappointing from indian staff had extremely good mood…so good that they were dancing, they were yelling each other and they generally made fuss annoying us. In addition they could hardly notice us when we wanted something (water, the bill etc. . We spend 105$ (a little more than 20e per person! but the price is not comparable to the food and service too much money. In conclusion the whole experience was not good, I would never go again to this place for any reason and I don't recommend this restaurant, not even to my worst enemy. In a few words...you should better try McDonalds on the main road... That bad!!
My first time in Melbourne, Australia was a brilliant experience. I spent time in Darwin in the Northern territory four years ago. Pink Flake is conveniently located from St. Kilda Beach. I never ate the native fish of Southern Australia, so I ordered two fish...dishes. I had the New Zealand Dory grilled and the Blue Grenadier fried. Both meals were excellent because they were cooked to order. The owner: Dino was very accommodating and professional. I highly recommend this fabulous eatery to everyone due to its fantastic food, cleanliness and neighborhood feel. I could see that the locals of Melbourne relish this restaurant. It was a great introduction to Melbourne, Australia…Kudos to Pink Flake!
Awesome fish and chips! Really big serves, we struggled to get through what we ordered as there was so much. The fish burger was fantastic. Best battered calamari I have had literally in years. It wasn’t chewy but was lovely and soft. Good prices too....I highly recommend this place.
Staff were very friendly, food was delicious and well priced. Short walk to and from the beach, definitely recommend.
Basically the food quality here is below what one would imagine. The cooking oil seems the produce a toxic aftertaste with both the chips and fish. the fish perhaps was not fresh. The air inside seems badly ventilated. The other offerings are uninspiring, salads that...look well past their due date, and were not crunching and refreshing but soggy and disappointing. The staff seem to lack interest in the customers, and generally seem to have an attitude like they do not want to be there. I wish I hadn't gone there. Not recommended.
