Cute little place tucked away in Windsor. It creates a bohemian/tropical vibe and they have a nice selection of beer. The young girl who served me was lovely and informative re drink choices. View all feedback.
What Xavier Ross doesn't like about Jungle Boy:
Not bad not great Expensive price tag for watered down drinks Got the zombie, menu referenced 3-4 spirits+ grenadier but was served in a small cup and tasted mainly of juice. I can only assume it's a quarter of a shot of each spirit when I would've expected this drink to have 3-4 standards in it, especially for the price. Price per person: A$40–60 View all feedback.
Lizzie’s first impression: hidden behind a cooler fridge of Boston Subs, an intriguing entrance and good drink selection<br/ <br/ Lizzie enjoyed: They have great cocktails we had a negroni, whiskey sour and their cider. The whiskey sour was made well and not too sweet. The cider they have is from Berties (a Melbourne owned brewery in Port Melbourne). I will definitely be stocking up on these ciders for myself this Summer because it was simply amazing! <br/ <br/ Lizzie did not enjoy: although the decor is very nice, the back yard area is a bit of a let down just four corners with seats it almost looked it wasn't apart of the bar and it was very limited seating! <br/ <br/
Hiding behind the cool room door in this seemingly innocuous sub and fries shop is a cool little tiki bar. The cook doubles up as a bouncer and he chats though a little gap in the wall to the bartenders in the back to let people in. <br/ <br/ We were lucky to get a seat in the courtyard. A nice night for it but amongst the smokers and music that’s a little bit too loud. They do table service and the waiters were nice. Check the menu first, they only have very limited beer and wine, so if sweet drinks are not your thing then it’s not the place for you. Prices have gone up, cocktails are $20.
Jungle Boy is probably Chapel Street’s worst kept secret. Located behind a freezer door at Boston Sub (which I must say serves up some damn good poutine! , Jungle Boy is a surreal escape from the Chaps vibes. I had an absolutely amazing time at Jungle Boy trying their different tiki themed cocktails. Most of them were pretty potent as the bartenders are quite skilled and generous in their mixology. There is usually a line to get in, but it's well worth the wait!
A very cool secret bar where you have to go through a fridge at the back of a sandwich shop... freaking awesome!! The service was friendly and relaxed. The actual bar had a huge chilled out vibe and surrounded by brick walls and greenery. The drinks were adventurous and tasty! Will certainly be coming back here the next time I visit Melbourne!
Had a pre-dinner cocktail here with some friends<br/ <br/ I love the Hawaiian/jungle theme. It feels like a totally different world compared to the street outside. Also love the hidden bar concept a lot! I wish the space was a bit bigger more spacious<br/ <br/ DRINKS<br/ A nice cocktail that was strong packed a flavour punch!<br/ <br/ Great, charismatic bartenders!
