Was Anonym at Captain Baxter a mag?
I hosted my 21st birthday at Captain Baxter, and it was a fantastic Sunday afternoon cocktail party in the dining room's palm room. We had an amazing time! Everyone couldn't stop complimenting the stunning view, the lovely atmosphere, and the delicious food and drinks that were served throughout the event. The team was incredibly helpful and organized everything seamlessly. The staff were outstanding and exceptionall... View all feedback.

What Helene Langworth dislikes about Captain Baxter:
My partner and I upon approach of the venue were treated as unwelcome "where are YOU going?" by security on the door. My partner was wearing a black tshirt, jeans and shoes and I had on smart jeans and heeled boots. We were informed there was now a dress code at that time (8pm) and collared shirts must be worn however as we were turned away two scantily clad girls and a gentleman wearing a tshirt were allowed straigh... Came here for some drinks about the weekend, the location was nice, we sat outside with view of the ozean. in the bar and the staff were not very friendly, drinks were good and cheap. I was outside on the terrace and a personal opened the door and it was in my mouth. it didn't seem to bother her and either didn't apologize for what gives the impression that the personal did not care about her customers. the service was not great, but the location is 10/10

The food is overpriced and quite ordinary. The menu is limited, with inflated prices. I ordered the BBQ swordfish with Goan curry for $38, expecting something impressive, but what I received was quite disappointing. It consisted of three pieces of semi-dried swordfish served with curry sauce and brown rice. This place feels more like a bar than a restaurant focused on food.

It 's pretty hard to argue with a place that has THOSE views over St Kilda beach. With an outdoor terrace, formal dining space with sexy leather booths and a more casual bar area, there 's a lot going on here and surely a place that you will want to spend an hour or two. The Tommy Collins cocktail was refreshing, if perhaps a little sweet. Served over mountains of crushed ice, it tasted like a lemonade icy pole. Some people will love this, but I 'll be looking to the other Cocktails next time there 's plenty to choose from, many with a slight twist using local Australian ingredients. Staff are still finding their feet and learning the menu (case in point: when choosing something from the shared menu, I would have expected to be told that the item I chose was actually only one piece and not something suitable for sharing. Bring on Summer I say, because this may just be the new place to be in St Kilda once the weather warms up.
