Was johnny at Bistro Goemon a mag?
Lovely place. Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything was fresh and flavoursome, particularly enjoyed the tofu salad (pictured), dumping special and the brown rice tea brulee. View all feedback.

What Lili Thamrin dislikes about Bistro Goemon:
Went to this restaurant for a meal prior to going to the movies. Whilst I like Japanese food I am aware that it can be a culinary adventure and that the presentation can sometimes overtake what is on the plate. Well that's about it here, the serves are that small that it was hard to tell if the quality of the food was good or bad. We had some spring rolls and 2 other dishes, without alcohol or desert, and it came to... View all feedback.

One always gets a bit excited when all the staff are Japanese and even more so when a good percentage of the customers are as well. This is modern and fancy Izakaya fare with some adventurous edges. The Agedashi tofu is subtly infused with crab meat and the Teriyaki sauce has levels of anchovy excitement which lift it above the regular sweet/sticky delight. The menu is full of interesting options both cold and cooked. The atmosphere was very Japanese, with native punters yakking away with the sushi chef while sipping Suntory whiskey. The staff were friendly and attentive but obviously on student visas. There was a slightly hectic and mildly pannicked feel about the service which didn't match the price of the food. Serving sizes are also at times skirting on the edge of acceptabilty. 6 bite size pieces of chicken for $15 was a bit much. If you are hungry you will blow so some serious cash here, but.....I think I would be quite happy to do so.

Everytime I visit this venue, which is weekly, the service and the quality of food just amazes me. Japanese Cuisine thus fused always sates a hungry stomach. Keep it up and thank you. Please try the sparkling Sake.

After having a terrible time at a highly rated izakaya nearby, we were thrilled to discover our new favorite Japanese restaurant in Melbourne! You can tell it's the real deal when you see that the staff and many of the diners are speaking Japanese. With a wide variety of sake and expertly prepared dishes, this place truly embodies the essence of authentic Japanese izakaya.

I always seek out something unique beyond traditional Japanese cuisine, and this restaurant delivers just that. The prices are reasonable, the presentation is impressive, and the dishes are absolutely delicious and light, both for the main courses and desserts. I will definitely be returning.
