We came here after reading many positive reviews — and we didn’t regret it at all. The experience exceeded our expectations! Despite the crowd, we didn’t have to wait long for a table. And even if we had, it wouldn’t have been a problem — you could always grab something tasty and sit by the sea. The staff were excellent: fast, polite, and professional. The food was not just delicious — it was made with fresh seafood and real passion. We were a bit afraid of being disappointed, but there was no reason for that. Everything was great
When visiting the Puerto Viejo we always end up here for a drink and a nice snack. Service and prices are good.
If you come to Hondarribia for short visit, better not come to eat in this place. The food is average, but the wait is loong. It was not even weekend. I noticed several customers are complaining, at least a family canceled their order because the wait. There are lots more restaurants in Hondarribia with this price range but much better quality.
We were two for lunch mid-week. On the plus side, an outside table gives you a superb view of the main pedestrian thoroughfare in Hondarribia. Service was friendly and efficient and offered in snatches of three languages. Portions were generous including the very drinkable house wines. We ordered the Euro 18 'menu du jour '. The starters were mixed: my white bean soup was quite tasty but my partner 's 'lotte pate ' was tasteless. We both shared the paella with shrimps and again, it lacked full flavour. A little chili, chorizo and more fish would have helped. Regrettable.
We decided to eat at the first restaurant we came to, despite the fact that the one next door and the one after that were both filling up whereas this one was still empty, on the grounds that people tend to ignore a first restaurant, hoping that something better will come along. I have no idea whether the two next door were better or not, but we were reasonably happy with ours not fine dining but ok for the price. We had the fish terrine or bean and chorizo soup to start with, followed by bacalao or paella. The paella was a bit of a disappointment but the other choices were fine. We all finished with the flan, which was delicious.
