Top Notch! It is a must Experience. The onion soup is out of this world like no other. Be sure to take a walk through a little piece of history. Just ask Kelly in the SPRINGHOUSE TAVERN while she provides outstanding service. I'm looking forward to coming back to enjoy another delicious meal. Service: 5 View all feedback.

Wonderful experience from the moment we walked through the door. The food is well prepared and the portions are large but not overwhelming. The server was attentive without being intrusive. The tables are a little close together so I would not say this is a romantic evening location. I would definitely go back here View all feedback.

Amazing! We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary with a week vacation that toured all over New England and finished with the Dobbin House as our final stop before heading home. What a perfect ending to… More
Oldest historic building in Gettysburg. Great authentic history
Dobbin house is one of the best places to visit for food in the Gettysburg area, you will have a wait but I assure you it’s well worth any wait time. I highly recommend the Ruben sandwich and French onion soup if your eating lunch or dinner. I recommend the steaks or short stack ribs for dinner. Rum belly drinks are a must try but fyi they are a two drunk Minimum. My husband and I favorite place to eat when visiting Gettysburg!
My husband, and I always enjoy the Dobbin House. Table of always ask to not be seated at the table right near the bathroom. Once you do that, alls good!! Mangia!!!

Went for dinner, we had to wait for about one hour because it was very busy for the dinner service It was worth the wait the food was delicious. The service was out standing. I would suggest making reservations if you want to get in quickly.
Amazing historical venue and mini museum that can be visited while you wait. You can’t call to reserve a table in the basement tavern but after 5pm you can reserve a table for their upstairs seating area. Love the atmosphere, would travel back to Gettysburg just for this place. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet
Great location, ambiance, service and food. We were happy to be able to get reservations and were not disappointed. Friendly staff and amazing food. I had the onion soup (really worth it) and prime rib. The pecan pie really topped off the evening. Probably the best pecan pie I have ever had. Let me start by saying the Caesar dressing was the absolute best one I've ever had! We went to the tavern. Watch your step going down to the basement. It was so beautiful though. We were a party of 5. We sat (crammed) between 2 tables already enjoying their lunch. Being disabled I was in pain the whole time sharing part of my seat with the gentleman beside me and trying my best to keep to myself, not on his lap. Very tight seating! My daughter had to step over purses and bags on the floor from the other table next to us to get to her seat. I ordered a coke for my granddaughter and was given a sprite. I didn't realize until it was too late (styrofoam cup with a lid) She can't drink Sprite, it messes with her belly big time so needless to say, the rest of our day trip was a bust. She also forgot to bring out one of my son's sides but offered to bring it after we finished our meals. The money you pay to eat here you should definitely get what you ask for. The gift shop was very nice, offered a variety of different things.
They were pretty rude and aghast that I would come in for dinner for one. Unfortunate that this place has great reviews, This might have fit the bill, but the attitude at the door was unacceptable. Rooms: 1 Service: 1 Location: 1

Very very good servicers and a very good period of history. Very clean and very very very good food and drinks
Dobbin House is the best restaurant in Gettysburg and a must-visit. We dine here whenever we visit town. The unique decor and cozy ambiance make it truly special, and the menu offers something for everyone.
Dobbin House is a fantastic spot in historic Gettysburg, PA. We dined in the tavern section of the building and found the food to be above average. We shared a house salad with homemade blue cheese dressing, which was delicious. We also split the famous French Onion Soup, likely the best we've ever had—seriously. For my main course, I chose the special homemade chili served with cornbread, while my wife enjoyed a perfectly grilled steak. The service was excellent, with our waitress K providing great assistance throughout our meal. The place tends to get busy, so we recommend visiting for a late lunch or early dinner in the tavern area. The Dobbin House menu offers a delightful variety that will satisfy many tastes.
A few days ago, my wife and relatives dined at Dobbin House Tavern. My wife enjoyed an open-faced turkey sandwich, chicken soup, coleslaw, and sparkling cider. My brother-in-law opted for a ham and cheese focaccia sandwich, while my sister chose a spinach salad and chicken soup. The atmosphere was truly wonderful, evoking the charm of a 19th-century tavern softly illuminated by candlelight. The service, waitstaff, and menu were all exceptional. They had a fantastic time and found the restaurant delightful, perfectly fitting with Gettysburg’s rich history and the era of the famous battle. Dobbin House Tavern was the ideal spot to eat while visiting the Gettysburg battlefield, the museum, Eisenhower’s farm and home, and all the historic sites linked to Abraham Lincoln and his Gettysburg Address, honoring the soldiers who fought to preserve the Union, democracy, freedom, and liberty. This restaurant provided a fitting way to celebrate the history of our nation, the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans, and the sacrifices made during the Civil War to uphold the Union and our Constitution. Reflecting on the values and vision of the founding fathers, as well as the significance of the Battle of Gettysburg, Dobbin House Tavern proved to be a perfect place to appreciate our country’s journey as a united, free, and liberty-loving nation. As Lincoln famously said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” My relatives were truly pleased to conclude their Gettysburg visit with a memorable meal at Dobbin House, enjoying the delectable food, the enchanting candlelit atmosphere, and the restaurant’s historic aura. They praised the menu, the ambiance, and the overall experience and found dining by candlelight especially delightful.
One of our favorite spots whenever we visit Gettysburg. The French onion soup is exceptional. Be sure to sit in the cozy tavern downstairs!

We had an early dinner here in the tavern. We both had the daily special “Beef Stroganoff”. It was DELICIOUS!!! It’s a very cute, quaint old tavern. Friends went yesterday. They had a 1-hour wait to be seated and that and the slow service causedthem to have a 2 ½ hour lunch. WE were seated in about 10 minutes and didn’t have slow service at all. We liked the place andI would recommend it. Cute, fun, and terrific food!
After taking a tour of Gettysburg, we wanted to continue with the historic feel and got a table at Dobbin House Tavern. Walking out of the cold into the reception area with the wood burning fireplace gave an immediate warmth of body and spirit. All of thestaff are dressed to the time period and the restaurant makes you feel as if you are back in the late 1700s. The fresh bakedbreads were delicious, the French Onion soup was incredible, and even the salads were fresh. I had the catch of the day(salmon) which came with potato but I upgraded to tasty Brussels sprouts. My Mom had a crab cake which she raved about. Withjust enough room left, we split a homemade piece of pecan pie with some whipped cream that was the perfect ending to anincredible meal. The service was phenomenal as well. And then we finished by visiting the area which served as part of theUnderground Railroad. Highly recommend having a meal here!
Dobbin House has a great atmosphere and really good food! Our server, Nikki, was top notch! Even though the restaurant was busy and she was moving non stop, she made sure we had everything we needed and had a great personality. Make sure you go upstairsafter your meal. There is a small museum that shows where slaves were hidden during the Underground Railroad. Fantastic piece ofhistory!
Arrived on a Wednesday evening after making reservations on Tuesday. Very interesting atmosphere that is dimly lit to enhance the old time experience of this historic location. Staff was very friendly and explained any questions about the menu withdetail. Took awhile for the drinks to show up, however, the appetizers came quickly. Main course was good but not great. Overall experience was just ok for the price. The history and background of the venue make it a must if you are from out oftown.
Great place for dinning after spending time touring Gettysburg. Have eaten downstairs in the Tavern a number of times. Always good food and very interesting atmosphere. Only disappointment this visit was their Tap line was not working. Highlyrecommend this place. A ton of history about The Dobbin House . Well worth the wait for a table.

Absolutely phenomenal place to eat upstairs and in the tavern. So full of charm and history. The food is fabulous.
