This is Geraldton's new best secret! Anya (well known local chef) is back in the kitchen at the Emerald Room. Although we didn't need that much we enjoyed entree, main amd dessert! The restaurant is unassuming attached to best western motel on cathedral ave. The food was second to none! All four of us enjoyed every mouthful and will be making it our new local. Treat yourself and order the chef's dessert special. You... View all feedback.

First and last visit. Had heard good things about the Emerald Room so we were very keen to dine there for my Son's birthday. Sat down at 6.30 and received our mains at 8.10. Our group were one of the first in the restaurant and we watched other guests arrive get seated and receive their meals while we continued to wait. Even watched one couple arrive, eat and leave while we waited. We were advised that because we had... View all feedback.

Our group were one of the first in the restaurant and we watched other guests arrive get seated and receive their meals while we continued to wait. Even watched one couple arrive, eat and leave while we waited. We were advised that because we had ordered entree (garlic bread and oysters to share) that they couldn't put our main order in until later. Ended up taking the cake home.
We went for dinner in March 2017 on recommendation from friends. I can only say our meal was disappointing. The worst aspect of this meal was our entree - we ordered oysters. We ate some of them before my husband put one to his mouth and retched. It was very off. He asked me to check. It was horrible. We asked wait staff to smell the oyster - they didn't. In fact they came back later and said the kitchen staff had eaten an oyster each (who in hospitality would ever break this cardinal rule?) and they were fine. They charged us for half the oysters. Stupidly - and because we held out hopes our mains would be better - we stayed - the crispy skin salmon was soggy. The calamari was dry. Later complaints to management resulted in advice that perhaps our oysters were strong smelling because they are frozen and some of them smell! After explaining years of fishing and hospitality experience - we were invited back to the restaurant - no redress for the shocking experience we had - no, thanks. For what we were charged, we can eat well elsewhere.
Food was ok - had the sirloin and garlic prawns, nothing to write home about. Kids meals (roast meat with vegetables) were lovely and big enough for adult serve and included 2 huge scoops of ice cream for $10 which was an absolute bargain. Very friendly wait staff and nice setting, a bit more formal than we were expecting which was nice. Overall, nice evening meal for a family of 4 passing through on our way up north.
