Lighter Side Eatery - Geneseo
Lighter Side Eatery
Description
Nestled in a small college town, this restaurant offers an affordable and vibrant menu featuring fresh salads, wraps, and Mediterranean dishes. While it excels in vegetarian options, such as generous portions of feta and tzatziki, vegan selections are limited, as some vegetarian items, like the nuggets, contain animal products. Diners commend the large, flavorful portions, particularly of falafel and souvlaki wraps. However, some reviews point to issues with cleanliness and service, especially related to a partnering establishment. Overall, it's a delightful spot for health-conscious diners, though improvements could enhance the experience further.

The menu features a variety of options for customization, including a decent range of vegan dishes. While it may not be exceptional, it's a dependable choice for a meal.
I would rate this restaurant 3.5 stars for its promotion of vegetarian options, but I'm leaning towards giving it 3 stars because the vegan choices are quite limited. Their affordable and healthy menu is a great addition to this small college town. Following a vegetarian diet is simple with options like feta cheese and tzatziki sauce available, but going vegan is more challenging as it means avoiding cheese and opting for vegan dressings. It's worth mentioning that the vegetarian nuggets are not suitable for vegans since they contain egg and milk powder. We ordered large and fresh salads, but the falafel side dish was just average. I visited this restaurant for the first time and ordered two pita wraps - one with falafel, and one with souvlaki. Both wraps were expertly prepared, fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly large in size. The falafel wrap could have used a bit more spice, but overall, it was still satisfying. The layout of the restaurant is rectangular, which I appreciated, as square-shaped restaurants just don't feel right to me for some reason.
The experience was alright, but there were quite a few issues. The floors were extremely sticky, which was unpleasant. The bathrooms could definitely use a thorough cleaning, and the windows are in need of attention as well. All the tables appeared dirty, and the condiments that were supposedly fresh also needed to be wiped down. Additionally, the chicken tasted processed and didn't seem fresh at all. I really dislike leaving negative reviews; it's truly my least favorite thing to do.
I really enjoy the food and nearly everything about this restaurant, but there's a consistent issue with their online orders. I often order a Regular Pita but end up getting a Small instead. They sometimes forget to include the chips I ordered, among other mistakes. I always make sure to include a tip when I order online, but it's still frustrating. My advice would be to visit the restaurant in person rather than placing an online order.
