We attended a wedding at the British in early July and it was terrific. The ceremony was held on the enormous patio- set beautifully with an arbour and white chairs- on a sunny evening. The pre-ceremony reception featured a huge buffet of appetizer and staff worked hard and cheerfully to make sure everything was kept stocked and clean. What User doesn't like about The British Public House:
We stopped at The British Public House because it looked great from the outside. From the start it was a bit difficult to figure out how to be seated and a woman at what appeared to be an entry area wasn't super helpful. Once we figured that out we were seated quickly though and received out drinks fast as wellMy sister and friend were pleased with their food. So was I, though I wish I had received what I ordered. I have visited this restaurant at least four times since they opened and have always had a pleasant experience. The restaurant has two sections, one for families and the other for a pub or bar atmosphere. They also offer entertainment on Saturday nights, although I have not attended yet. From my first visit, I have always found the food to be delicious and well-prepared. The menu is not extensive, but everything I have tried has been tasty and served hot and promptly. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant is clean. On a few occasions, I noticed they were missing ice buckets for white wine, so I requested a pitcher of ice water instead. I was informed that the ice buckets have been ordered and should be available soon. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for families with children or adults looking for a pub atmosphere. They also have beautiful banquet rooms and will soon be opening a hotel section. I truly enjoy dining here and am actually going tonight for my husband's birthday, making it my fifth visit. You should give it a try too!

It was a very special evening for all and we will definitely be back. Well done!

Once we figured that out we were seated quickly though and received out drinks fast as wellMy sister and friend were pleased with their food. So was I, though I wish I had received what I ordered. I did receive a burger (which ended up being good) just not the one I ordered. None of this would be enough to keep us away in future, though probably not as a first option.
The recently restored and renovated British resides in the heart of Aylmer Village. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Fast, friendly service. Typical pub-style food. Seems to cater to a younger crowd. Can be quite noisy on weekends.
This old hotel/pub has been restored from the background in a combination with love and taste. The complex consists of three parts: the hotel/pub, a large terrace/place and a coffee. It's a very busy cozy place where we go together, with friends or group. the pub menu is agreed and very correct for this kind of place; Anyway, we put on safe values. food and service are good; The value-for-price ratio is right. If you pass through the aylmer district of the city of gatineau, make a stop at the british. Take a walk on the main street and discover other small shops.
