Feedback
A comprehensive review of the restaurant highlights the variety of experiences that diners had. From being impressed with the delicious and imaginative dishes to feeling disappointed with the taste of the food, there were varied opinions. Some praised the professional waitstaff, romantic ambiance, and the worth of every penny spent, while others were let down by missed special requests and small portion sizes. Despite some hiccups in service and ambiance, many customers enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere, making them want to come back for more. The restaurant's concept, menu, and friendly waiters left a positive impression on diners, making it a destination worth planning for, even if out of the way. Overall, the restaurant seemed to offer a mixed bag of experiences but left many patrons satisfied and willing to return.
Not my kind of place. The bar / tavern had screaming, loud customers on a day when there was no one around. Really a tasting menu, teen plate, teen servings, bad value for money. The waitress told me that the green peppers in my clam chowder were mild - they weren't and had to spit out with a burning mouth. Really embarrassing when I was treated. Instead, they gave me asparagus. Your only vegetable. They didn't notice that my water glass was empty and I had to request it. Backless benches to sit in the tavern / bar, but you can request an uncomfortable chair. Not a place where you, like me, eat a lot of healthy protein and vegetables. I don't like leaving a restaurant where I feel bloated with too much food, but I don't want to go hungry either. The coffee was good after the meal.
4 plates divided. Scallops cooked perfectly, sauce not very aromatic, chased the small amount of peas around the plate. Beet platter was good. Tuna poke had strings of supposedly kelp salad, fries were sparse and not wasabi powder. If more chips were requested, the answer was "not sure but will be checked". Return with 4 chips. It seemed rather strange that the smoked bluefish and avocado toast was served with bluefish on one toast and avocado on the other.
Amazing experience from the staff, ambience and the food was thoughtful, fresh, inventive and I want to go back for the vegetable gnocchi immediately.
First time?drove to Gastonia just for it. The DUCK CIGARS were perfect?I also ordered the MAIN EVENT salad with tenderloins (medium) and shrimp?steak was overcooked barely even pink inside but at least it was tender?shrimp were okay but the greensweren?t consistent (see picture)?no way ANY of the lettuce should have looked like this. My order was to go?guy over the phonewas super nice. Inside seems to be a vibe. I?m going to try brunch this weekend in hopes it will be better. Heard great thingsabout this place?but my salad left much to be desired. The Duck Cigars and (I almost forgot) the Italian dressing werewonderful! Service was good. Salad was mid especially for the price. These days few places are consistent in every area. It?s achallenge with hiring folks to execute in the way you as the owner or manager would or expects. Anyway, they weren?t busy so Ifigured I was safe but like I said I will give them another chance (fingers crossed that brunch will be better)
Devin was my bar tender and he did a wonderful job to say the least. He had great drink suggestions and exceptional execution. My dinner and dessert paired well with my drinks and the overall conversation, selection and atmosphere was refreshing. Heeasily could have paid no mind to me, but instead went out of his way to engage in conversation. 10/10 would recommend thisestablishment to anyone in the area.
