Was Dinah B at L'Estanquet a mag?
This was recommended by our guesthouse and we found it to be a charming country place serving typical French provincial food. Not 'gourmet ' but a very enjoyable set menu for a reasonable price. View all feedback.

Cold beer in a bottle, and that is as far as it goes. Unfriendly staff, overpriced; typical €15 for a starter, €25 main, €10 dessert, no plat-du-jour.

Friendly and welcoming. Good menu choice but I had the worst confit de Canard I have ever had. I could not cut it with a steak knife and even had trouble with my fingers and teeth. The rest of my group had the fish. That would have been a better choice.

We had dinner on the Canal du Midi at this charming restaurant last night. The salad with goat cheese was amazing and the white fish was outstanding. The Viogniei local wine was memorable. Lovely surprise....

We've eaten here several times traveling along the canal and never been disappointed. It's not Michelin starred but it IS a good honest local restaurant serving fresh food, well presented. The menu is essentially traditional fare incl duck magret, and confit, entrecote steak, and some fish dishes as well as gambas. Entrees include gravalax, fois gras, and charcuterie platters all of which are quite delicious. Service is quick , polite and courteous. The wine list is not large and not especially diverse but there is usually something for most tastes a and prices are very reasonable. There's a nice ambience and depending on temperature and weather you can sit inside or out. They also have a great little beer garden on the side which is delightful in the warmer weather. Looking at the other restaurants in town the fare is not as good, choices generally fewer and the value a lot less.
