Contribute FeedbackNestled in Gananoque, this restaurant offers a charming ambiance and a diverse menu that caters to dietary needs, with many gluten-free options available. While the food garners rave reviews for its quality and flavor, service experiences vary significantly. Some patrons report a warm and welcoming atmosphere coupled with attentive staff, while others face delays and unresponsive servers, leading to frustration. Though the location is praised for its beauty, the interior could benefit from some renovations. Overall, the culinary delights make it a worthy brunch spot, but service consistency remains an area for improvement.
Our first visit to a meal since the change of ownership of the previous successful operation. Brunch was offered in the main coffee shop area with the separate dining room for renovations/premium for laptops and long chats. On a common table we enjoyed very delicious Huevos rancheros on Flatbread w avocado. My partner ordered the same as I, so I can't report much more, except excellent coffee and a Danish. Service by a young staff. Happy vegetarian! $44.00 No wine or beer offered during this visit. License registered? Sunday NYTimes Toronto G M free to read.
We loved this place with the previous owner, but I think we love it even more now, thanks to the blood, sweat and tears the new owner is putting into it. He combines flavors I would never think to put together into amazing works of art. He's the chef from the old place, so now, as the owner, it should only get better and better. Lunch was exceptional, as always, and I wish we lived closer so we could come more often. Wish I could give 10 stars! <3
French bistro meets “Castro” pub with a groovy little Italy cafe vibe. Recommend travelling from anywhere in the world for this little slice of heaven in Gananoque, Ontario. Service is warm, friendly and efficient. Food is award winning. Cocktails are perfect. Patio is sublime. There are a lot of little stores and boutiques at your fingertips. The thousand islands are a boat cruise away. Great spot to start a day trip or end one.
First visit today. I was a big fan of The Socialist Pig, but I have to say the food at Laverne's is even better (and more creative) than it was at TSP, and it was darn good there! Chef Ray in all his glory has been unleashed on Eastern Ontario. It's well worth our 30-minute drive from Wellesley Island. My wife and I look forward to many happy return visits!
Good coffee, good food, cool venue, friendly staff and customers [usually] ... what more could you ask for?
