We had been intending to visit The Royal Villa restaurant, for quite some time. Friends had told us that it was good, so we finally made the effort on a windy autumn evening. I do not think that I have ever written a review without including some negative aspect of the experience, In this case, I can think of none. The atmosphere was very good; the service, relaxed, but excellent, and the food well above average. We... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Royal Villa:
We began our meal with the Crispy Aromatic Duck, which unfortunately was very dry. I then ordered the chicken with ginger spring onion as my main dish. While the sauce was tasty, the chicken itself was also dry, resembling cardboard. The prices at this restaurant are quite high, with the duck starter for two costing €22. With such high prices, the quality of the food should be much better. The restaurant was only 20%... View all feedback.
The food was extremely disappointing and the service was lacking. The restaurant was also not very clean. We have no plans to return in the future.

The restaurant was only 20% full on a Friday during Galway race week, indicating that the locals may not be satisfied with the dining experience. It would be unwise to ignore their feedback.
The service was incredibly quick and efficient, and the meal was served promptly. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. I would definitely return to eat here again. Excellent dining experience.
Guys serving from this restaurant are lovely but the food is at best average. Their food is all pre-prepared reheated. They give you lots of rice if that's what you like well good. The portions (apart from rice) are small, I' just under 8stone not a greedy eater. It's OK if nowhere else to go but I probably won't go again too often unless desperate. I think we've been spoilt as lived abroad in UK, US Canada >20 yrs where there are proper China Towns. Galway just does ****. Sorry guys but that's the truth.
Got a great recommendation to go here but it wasn't as nice as we expected. And certainly not for the price. The decor was quite dark. Service was very good. The food wasn't bad but it didn't match the price.
