Nice must-see site if you visit Connemara. The building has a story or rather several stories, built out of love. The abbey is not the only one to visit, also the chapel and mosaic, and finally the gardens located on the site but a little further away, accessible on foot or by shuttle bus with the head gardener's house. Part of the castle has been reconstituted as a living accommodation as it was at the time.
Very pretty castle which can be visited with a Gothic church next to it as well as the gardens with a shuttle which takes you there. A souvenir shop which offers creations from the abbey (soap, caramel, chocolate) I recommend. Free parking.
Enchanting place... The building is stupendous, but also the immense gardens, the gardener's house... it's like entering a fairy tale. Beautiful!
It was a wonderful day, it was magical and God blessed us with good weather. However, when taking the public bus back, the good lady on the front desk directed me to stand at the entrance gate to catch it. But the bus driver drove on to the exit gate! A bit of stress at the end, so could have done with clearer more accurate advice.
