The restaurant has more of a cafeteria feel than a traditional restaurant. We only tried a sweet snack here, so I cannot speak to the other menu items, but we greatly enjoyed our tea and cakes. The Victoria sponge was light and airy, not overly sweet. My husband's chocolate cake was rich and decadent without being too heavy. Both slices were generously sized and paired perfectly with a nice cup of tea on a cold, rain... View all feedback.
This restaurant is spacious and popular with tourists, but offers delicious food at affordable prices. I tried the salmon and spinach quiche with salad, which was filling and satisfying. I found it to be a great value for the price.
I had a fantastic lunch at this restaurant on a chilly, rainy day! The service was top-notch, the food selection was impressive, and the restaurant was impeccably clean. It's a perfect example of a fantastic dining destination for tourists.
The food appeared to be delicious, but we decided to try the desserts instead. You must try the eclairs - they are the best we have ever had. We searched for them during our travels around Ireland, and this was the only place that served them.
This restaurant is a fantastic place to stop and take a break. It complements the Abbey grounds and gift shop perfectly. I always make a point to stop here when riding my motorcycle from Roundstone to Leenaun and back via Maam Cross. It's excellent.
Mitchell's Cafe is an excellent example of how to provide good healthy food to large numbers of visitors in an efficient friendly manner. The queue was long when we arrived around 1.30pm one wet day in August. However the line kept moving and the variety of food was great. We had an excellent lunch and it was good value. Highly recommend. Very well organised.....hats off to the Abbey team.
