Ordered the Hake and oysters and both were delicious. Super fresh and came out right away. Seating can be limited, and tables are somewhat communal but other than that, fantastic! Team was lovely and made sure everyone was able to get a seat.

After having amazing pizza in Galway, I suddenly had a craving for fresh fish and chips — and that’s when we decided to try McDonagh's. Safe to say, it completely satisfied the craving! What I really liked was that you can choose your own fish, which makes the experience feel fresh and authentic. The fish was beautifully fried — crispy on the outside while still fresh and flaky inside. The chips were lovely too, perfectly paired with the fish. The service was quick and friendly, and although the place itself is quite small and simple, it absolutely delivers on what it’s famous for: proper fish and chips. I actually relied on Google reviews to decide which fish and chips place to visit in Galway, and now I completely understand why McDonagh’s has such great ratings and reviews. Sometimes the crowd really is right Fresh fish, great frying, lovely chips, and a genuinely authentic Galway experience. Definitely worth visiting if you love seafood and classic fish chips.
