Ultimamente, tenho reparado numa redução das porções da protéina, o espaço vazio do prato é recheado com os acompanhamentos. Resultado da crise atual sem dúvida, mas cada vez mais obriga-me a ter outras escolhas em opção para almoçar. Destaca-se pelo atendimento rápido, atencioso e prestável. Sabores has consistently been a reliable choice: not particularly exceptional, yet reliably satisfying. Recently, I 've started to notice that the portion sizes for the proteins have become smaller, with the sides now taking up more space on the plate. Undoubtedly, this change is a direct consequence of the ongoing economic challenges we 're facing, but it does compel me to contemplate other lunch alternatives. We spent six days in Funchal and went every evening to this cozy little restaurant to have dinner. After the first meal, we realised that this was an excellent... read more We spent six days in Funchal and went every evening to this cozy little restaurant to have dinner. After the first meal, we realised that this was an excellent place to have an evening meal, with portuguese typical home made cooking with tons of flavour, at a good price and able to adapt to the type and amount of food we needed. We love to have a good portuguese soup at dinner, and this place was excellent in that respect. And with two small kids, the fact that the place could gladly propose a meal well adapted to them every evening was a big plus. As we were staying in a nearby 5-star hotel, with prices starting at 25 EUR per person, this was also an economical alternative as we did not have meals included in our stay. To top up, the restaurant is quiet, with lots of space for the kids to move around if they get restless and with very nice, efficient and friendly small-family staff. An excellent finding we made, which I fully recommend.

My husband dish was cod (15 Euro) and it was delicious. HOWEVER, my lamb dish (12 Euro) was a HUGE let down. How so ? The 3 pieces of lamb chop were hard like rubber. I tried my best to chew them as I was so hungry and also tired from the long hike, but it’s just impossible to swallow. I have never been served such bad meat before even in touristy places.The waiter clearly saw me spit out the meat and he didn’t want to come ask if everything’s okay. I wanted to say something but I thought it won’t make a difference but ruin my evening. Anyways, fish is gorgeous but never ever order a meat dish.
