I didn't take the tour just went to the tasting room and had a cocktail made with their Reserve vodka, mulled blueberries and lemon, and ginger beer. It went down real smooth.
The distillery process was short and ok ....nothing special. Took about 15 minutes with one of the master distillers. But the tastings and informational sharing time with Diane upstairs from the distillery was facinating. She was very informative about the process and explained how gin actually comes from vodka with the addition of juniper and several other plants. Definitely could taste the junper in the gin. Same for the blueberry in the vodka! We were there about an hour and it was well worth the stop.
Legit...Dont sleep on the gin either..Got to figure out how to get more to Arizona...
I have been a Cold River fan for years! The vodka is very good. The one star is for the customer service or lack thereof. They stopped selling T shirts on line. They sell them in the store. I called and asked if they could please ship one as it's a gift. The answer was a no. Note they said I could stop in the store which is over 500 miles away. No reason just a no to shipping it even though it's a gift and an opportunity to make money. This has me rethinking their brand and what they want the perception out there to be. Word of mouth and referrals go a long way. As does kindness, doing the right thing and small gestures. This isn't the first customer service opportunity when we visit Maine (once every 2 years mind you), the person in the store is less than friendly. We always looked past it because of the Vodka and supporting small business. I guess it's time to start paying attention to the theme. Missed opportunity on their part.
