Today was my first time eating at Thacher Rye and I’m ecstatic to say it was not be my last. I stumbled upon the restaurant after a quick Google search that screamed “EAT HERE” There are many places suggested for best brunch in Frederick and I’ve tried many of them; Jojo’s, Nola, Up on Market St and Hootch and Banter (to name a few and nothing, I mean nothing, compares to the service and quality of food as Thacher Rye. Immediately upon entering I was concerned that I was under dressed since I had just came up to get a beard trim and was dressed in athletic wear. The extremely handsome and very friendly Jordan, who greeted me with the kindest smile ever, assured me that I was ok. He gave me a quick tour of the dining room (which is so beautiful, like the entire building and we decided to sit at the bar with the incredibly charismatic and stunning Hannah! Hannah was multitasking like crazy all while making incredible eye contact and killing the customer service game. Chick Fil A should send their employees to Hannah for training! I had kind of made my mind up with what I was going to eat and after hearing Hannah’s suggestions, I stuck with what I wanted. Which was a mistake. Always listen to the employees!!! Now don’t get me wrong, my food was incredible, but now I can’t stop dreaming of Shakshuka. I did decide to add the Grits which are the best I’ve had anywhere outside of Atlanta. What a treat to discover this restaurant today. Now I just need a nap Thanks to everyone who made my first time eating here so incredible!!

The experience was spectacular!! Love it Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Thacher and Rye offers a dining experience that blends culinary excellence with occasional inconsistencies. While dishes like the salmon and ribeye receive high praise for their presentation and flavor, other menu items can underwhelm, leaving guests longing for more cohesive brunch options. The ambiance fluctuates from charming to lackluster, with many yearning for the initial bar atmosphere. Service can range from impeccable to chaotic, highlighting the importance of attentive staff. Despite some shortcomings, many diners leave satisfied, particularly after enjoying the chef’s thoughtful touches and delightful desserts. Overall, this spot remains a solid choice in downtown Frederick.

Great place for an anniversary dinner. Nice, quiet, welcoming. We were seated In the kitchen where we could see the staff preparing the meals. The tasting menu and pairings were perfect. The pours on the pairings were generous which made everything that much better. The bill is always a little startling. But you get what you pay for and the generous pours on the pairings ensured I didn’t care too much.

The food was very good. They were not able to make substitutions we requested at brunch and only had whole milk for coffee drinks which was a bit of a bummer, but the quality of the food was great. The service was well executed but the lack of flexibility on the menu was disappointing. I would go back. The place is beautiful and our hostess was super friendly.

We were seat immediately with our reservation. The waitress was prompt and very pleasant. She explained everything well. I had the tuna appetizer, which was amazing. The short rib was very tasty, though I thought the texture was a little mealy, which was mildly off-putting. But that's just me. It did melt in your mouth, though I like by beef a little chewier. But it did taste great. Overall, an excellent experience as usual.

This dinner was to celebrate our 55th anniversary. Starting with a cocktail (Dark Star) which was excellent, we shared our first and second courses to get a great sampling of the menu. This was followed by coffee and dessert. Our waiter, Steven, was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Recently, my wife and I dined at Thacher Rye for the first time. We were not sure what to expect, but regardless of what those expectations might have been, this place exceeded them. The atmosphere was warm and inviting from the moment we walked in the front doors. The hostess that greeted us was friendly and helpful. Anna G curated our dining experience and did so incredibly. She was knowledgeable and answered any questions that we had, and she was friendly and personable.

Went here for dinner on a Saturday night. This is Bryan Voltaggio's restaurant and it did not disappoint. The inside of the restaurant was very warm and inviting. The staff was excellent and extremely attentive to our table as the we progressed through our courses. The quality of the ingredients and of the food was unmatched in taste and presentation. A top tier experience for sure and one that I will definitely be going back for.

We had an amazing date night at T&R! The food was amazing and the service matched. I got the salmon which was great but I have to say my husbands ribeye was phenomenal. It came with the creamiest mashed potatoes I ever had. They brought out these corn bread Madeline?s which were amazing. Their buns were also delicious and the drinks were well crafted. Highly recommend.

The tasting menu in the chef?s kitchen was an unforgettable experience. Each course was exceptional and beautifully prepared. The service was flawless and watching the kitchen operate was a ton of fun for me and my wife. Cannot recommend this highly enough!

Went for my birthday and had an absolutely amazing experience!! I?ve been here twice and both times the lasagna and chocolate dessert have been a favorite. Everything I?ve had here has been incredible. After 5pm you can park in their lot and that?s so convenient!

We have eaten here often for special occasions and the cook is always ready to work with us, including making special dresses for my gluten-free, vegan friend. as well, each court is an artwork as they can see.

We had a nice evening. great server, service, bar options and above all creative and first class dining options.

We have made our jubilee in hope for a special experience. when we told our server that we do not drink alcohol, there was a noticeable change in his demeanor. my wife asked for mocktail options and there was only one he knew. we haven't chosen this since any other choice. if we are ordered to eat the server implies, we should order more than we did even though we insisted we ordered enough with detree and shared table order. we also noticed that he had much more attention to other tables. the food was tasty, but we did not order desserts after the underwhelming service. wants to recommend firestone’s or other restaurants where we had much better experience.

The menu may appear with escape as “chickens” and “bass”, but any dish we had was amazing. parker house rolls was a great start, and the huh was the best that all three of us had ever tried. they also recommend the nativity. not cheap, but they really get what they pay here.

The food was so delicious. the server was knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations and we were not disappointed! we plan to come back and can't wait to bring our friends.

I feel like the level has gone down a bit. Service was very inconsistent and felt chaotic. Fingerprints on the plates.... This has been our go to for New Years Eve and special events for a few years now. Food was good and was expected. Still a solid choice for dining out in Frederick.

Absolute perfection. We have been many times but when we arrived on NYE and told the waiter we had shellfish and dairy allergies we didn't know what to expect (it was a prix fix menu). Silly us!! The chefs rose to the occasion and provided us with 5 outstanding courses that were within our allergy limits. I can't express how much this meant to us. This is and remains my favorite restaurant in the area.

We were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary. This was our first time and we will return. Our meal was OUTSTANDING! My wife had the tasting menu, which featured phenomenal food and I had the halibut and mashed potatoes. Both were superb. A very nice dining experience.

The only thing that would make it better is if it was free. Everything we had was spot on. Steven our server had a great personality along with anyone that visited the table. Its not cheap to eat here, but you get what you pay for. Top notch ingredients, next level creativity and attention to detail. No criticisms from me whatsoever. Brian was gracious enough to take a photo with my wife and I. We watch lots of food network. We'll be back no doubt!

The best part of our evening was actually waiting for our table at the bar. The ambiance and service there was perfect. Once we made it to our table the ambiance, service and atmosphere went downhill. It felt more like mom and pop joint where we were sat and kind of like a hospital cafeteria, it was clean, neat, and lots of hustle and bustle but no ambiance. The food was okay, fried cheese was a bit greasy and too hard/crunchy. Lasagna was runny and the pork loin was dry but it tasted like it was dipped in au jus to moisten it and/or bring it back to life which made the bed of sweet potatoes taste more like a soupy mixture of cabbage, juice and potatoes. The Bistro steak was cooked medium which is how it was ordered but it was super chewy. The best part of the meal was the latte. We opted out of dessert and left. All in all the evening was good for us and we enjoyed each other's company but the experience at T&R was lacking and not what it was made out to be when we looked at online/social media reviews. 2-3 stars, next time we'll just stay at the bar area for the entire evening.

Really enjoyed the brunch here! We started with the skillet coffee cake to share. It was warm and soft and I enjoyed the berries on the bottom. I ordered sausage and biscuits as my main. It was very large and very tasty--the chicken was exceptionally crispy and had a drizzled sauce with a little kick. The biscuits were thick and fluffy. It's located in a beautiful old building, but the inside is very modern and almost has a gallery feel.

Every Wednesday and Thursday there is a great deal at the bar their burger, fries, and a beer for 20 dollars, so obviously I had to go. A steal! FYI only one beer is served for the deal. It 's Hank from Olde Mother Brewing Co. which was a 16oz light lager. All three of us loved the burger which was huge: two patties, thick cut bacon, pickles, onions, cheddar cheese, and a burger sauce, yum yum yum! The fries have old bay seasoning, and ya know... Maryland, amiright? They were served with ketchup and the burger sauce. The two people who came with me didn 't care for the beer, but that 's only because they aren 't beer people. I slurped mine up (and my partner 's and thought it was perfect with the burger. We also ordered new seasonal dessert items, which were pecan pie with maple ice cream and pumpkin cheesecake with grape sorbet. We couldn 't resist! The bartender and a waitress were raving about the pecan pie, and yes, it was really delicious. I loved the maple ice cream. I had the pumpkin cheesecake which was so soft and delicate. I 'm not a huge Concord grape fan but I ate all of the sorbet like a dehydrated person who was stranded on an island. It was very refreshing and cut through the fattiness of the cheesecake perfectly. The waiter was very nice and attentive! The bar was very clean and poppin ' and had people either taking advantage of the burger deal or eating other things from the menu. It did get loud at some points, which is expected because it was the bar, however(! there were no obnoxious drunk people killing the vibe. PS: I unfortunately didn 't take any photos this time. Sorry!

The food was delicious but pricy but that's okay cause it's thatcher and rye lol. Service is always consistent and quality, that I appreciate. Ambiance is nice. I love the patio more than the main dining room.

We have dined at this restaurant numerous times for special events and the chef has always been accommodating, even creating custom dishes for my gluten-free, vegan partner. Each dish is beautifully presented and a true masterpiece.
