Description

Matsutake offers a mixed dining experience that leaves some patrons underwhelmed. While the food and chef receive praise, service issues cast a shadow over the overall visit. Guests report long wait times and disorganization, particularly regarding reservations. Rude interactions with staff, including the owner, have led to feelings of embarrassment during special occasions. Additionally, birthday celebrations go unacknowledged, leaving diners feeling undervalued. Despite the culinary talents showcased, the inconsistency in service and management makes it difficult for many to recommend Matsutake wholeheartedly. Prospective diners should weigh these factors when considering their next reservation.

My family and I have been here multiple times and have never had a bad experience. Today was no exception. The hostess was friendly and greeted us with a smile. We were seated quickly and promptly (Thursday evening). The teppanyaki chef wasexceptional. He engaged with my whole family and genuinely seemed to enjoy what he was doing. The food was prepared perfectlyand tasted amazing. Their prices are fair and standard...$25-$35. I will note, their child portions are basically the same asan adult portion. So you might want to order one and have them split it. Overall, Matsutake did not disappoint. A must if youwant to treat the family to something fun and special.

Fantastic family experience! Visited for a birthday celebration dinner and had a very enjoyable evening. The chef and staff ensured we were always taken care of and had a fun time out. At a time when economy is crushing restaurants and quality staffingis difficult, this team managed to go above and beyond. In addition to the service, the quality and quantity of food stood abovethe rest while at similar price points across the board. The attention to detail and lack of cutting corners made this birthdaya special one for my family. We'll be back.

The last 3 times I've called over and over for 20 minutes while driving home with my sushi-loving toddler and no one answered, the 3rd time I placed my order online because I wasn't driving and when I went in, it wasn't busy so I'm not sure why they dontpick up their phones? When I got home I saw that the rice was super wet and turned to mush when we tried scooping it out. Sadlywe won't be trying to order here anymore.

Delicious hibachi with giant portions. The hibachi dinner comes with a little bowl of soup broth and a little bowl of salad as an appetizer, white rice (fried rice is $2.50 extra), lo mein noodles, vegetables, 2 shrimp, and protein of your choice (steak, chicken, shrimp, filet mignon, etc). We ordered the chicken and shrimp, and steak and shrimp. It's pretty pricey (about $30 foreach hibachi dinner) but the portions are so big that we took most of it home for leftovers.

This is the 4th time we have eaten here over a period of three years and it has really changed for the worse. My mother is Japanese and I eaten her cooking and at dozens of Japanese restaurants over my lifetime and I can honestly say this is the worst cooking. My question is, Who is in the kitchen? If it is a Japanese chef...shame on you. The chicken tempura I ordered a month ago was like giant mishapened chicken tenders in a thick pancake batter. Tempura should be light and airy and not dark from frying. Each piece was inconsistent from the next, not like beautiful Japanese portions that are similar and of the same size. Why did we come back today. The mushroom soup was tasteless. The hibachi chicken and steak was overcooked til both meats were dry. The size of the chunks varied from scrap like to about 1 inch wide, and the medium requested steak was like a leftover steak cut up for your four year-old to eat. It had fat throughout the steak pieces which should have been trimmed off. The mushrooms, broccoli, onions literally were like from leftovers from someone 's plate...and lastly...the white rice was undercooked. I don 't know who is in the kitchen...but I extredoubt that it is a Japanese chef. A true Japanese chef with have pride in what they do and make. Japanese food is an art...trust me, you won 't find traditional, quality, appetizing food at Matasuke. And on top of everything...the service is poor. I 've learned my final lesson and wasted my last $50 lunch. My daughter and I should have just gone to Poke Bowl.
