Description

Hidden in Flushing, Kakurega delivers expertly sourced, melt-in-the-mouth sushi and a well-stocked sake bar in an intimate, low-key setting. Menu highlights include delicate nigiri, tri-toro, chirashi and an affordable weekday omakase alongside higher-end tasting options. Service is generally attentive and accommodating—even to families with young children—though some dishes can be small and prices climb for premium omakase. Ideal for sushi lovers seeking neighborhood quality and a refined, unpretentious dining experience.

Overall averageThe rice to me too much Vinegar, fishes very fresh. I don’t like the EEl Don.Don mini size.

I don’t know how this place has such high reviews. I’d give it maybe 2.5 star, but definitely no more than 3 for the price point. I don’t mind paying, but not for the quality service I received for $170 omakase tax tip.

We had a really special night in this intimate spot. I can definitely see this restaurant being a great restaurant to become a regular. Everything is very sourced and high quality. The delicate portions were perfect for us. Service was just enough but not too intrusive. Minimal look on the sushi counter. Very recommended to order a few dishes at a time and just enjoy slowly.

Very very strong quality for the price here. They source premium ingredients so there's a good range you can spend $30 or $100 and be happy with both. Definitely the best sushi in the neighborhood, highly recommend.

Kakurega provides phenomenal, fresh sushi in a low key, underground location at the heart of Flushing, NY. For the , you're getting a selection of amazing quality fish. There is an a affordable omakase option for 58 during the week as well that I unfortunately didn't get to try. I ordered the tri toro don 28 (not on their online menu), and they even added a bit of delicious uni for me on the house. The three forms of tuna were all delicious, melts right in your mouth. The eel sashimi 8 for one piece, was excellent as well. The sake we had was Kamoizumi Nigori Ginjo, and it had the perfect amount of sweetness. If you're looking for tremendous quality, this is the place. Expect to spend some when you visit. 4/5
