What Julia doesn't like about The Empress Hotel:
Overall it was a nice evening but I reserved a table for 5 and we got a very small one that comfortably seated 4. We also had to wait for our food for 1 hour which was a bit frustrating given it was a birthday reservation. View all feedback. What Fiona Hawke likes about The Empress Hotel:
If this were a straight forward review I'd give the place 3-4 stars but any place that's banned straws gets a 5 from me! View all feedback.

read moreThe Empress Hotel is a longstanding favorite among locals, with a rich history of great food and beer offerings. While some reviewers found the service to be lacking and the children's menu uninspired, most praised the quality of the food and the extensive beer selection. The pub itself may be a bit tired looking, but the focus on high-quality produce and tasty meals is evident. With a cozy atmosphere and a beer garden perfect for watching sports or enjoying a conversation, The Empress Hotel is a solid choice for those seeking a traditional pub experience with excellent food options.
We booked a table to watch the football. The Hotel rang me during the day to confirm the booking, staff were friendly and helpful.
A great place to watch the football in the beer garden Great atmosphere and service.
Can't go wrong with the Empress. Beer selection, the Parma and family friendliness are my personal highlights. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff throughout.
Loved the old-style dining room vibe, open fire and great food. Everything was easy, and staff made our big group (16) really welcome
