I've been trying this place for a few years. every time I went past the food store, it was packed and the pasta with muscheln looked soou good. a hospitable gave me an excuse to finally dine here and it was not disappointed. I called a reservation because it was pouring and outside seats would not be available. it went, warmly welcomed and sitting. there were glasses offered by prosecco that was a beautiful note. did the server/owner take the advice? had a nice starter followed by the spaghetti with whistle and bottarga and the risotto with garnel. also a very nice bottle white wine. everything was fantastic and I didn't let anything on the tellers. the atmosphere was beautiful and I did not hear English. this place is definitiw on a non-tourist number and obviously loved by the natives. highly recommended if they are answered near the santa croce area
Exhausting day in Florence and needed a positive experience. Telephoned ahead and the waiter said there would be room without a reservation. We had the rice with clams which were amazingly fresh and excellent, rice with red shrimp, and a fried mixed seafood platter which was excellent. Everything was very fresh and we had no complaints about the food. The place is tiny thus it offered no space or privacy, though a next table discussion with cultured strangers offered some distraction. The waiter was a bit too full of himself, though otherwise it was a good first time experience. We returned in January hoping to have the same pleasant meal. The street the restaurant is on, Via Gioberti, has very nice specialty stores for clothing shopping. Stopped before opening time to ask if there would be a table for us and the same waiter reassured us that no reservation was required. Returned 40 minutes later and were refused service. This was odd since the restaurant was almost empty as evident in the photograph.
