My daughter went further into shop to read very small price list which said €3 for small tub. Two sizes of tub on counter one large one small so we pointed to the small and ordered our ice creams. He then tried to charge €20! We said no and went to leave the shop when he said he would call police so we said fine, call them. We said we had picked small tub and he said no, they are the small tubs and pointed to some tiny ones behind the counter. I said he had deceived us and he said “you didn’t ask me!”. I said he had a responsibility to be honest as a businessman and was happy for the police to come. He then said as it was MY mistake ! he would only charge me €10. We paid but should have walked out. The ice cream was not good either. Check out other comments elsewhere to not one good comment. The authorities should close this man down. Bad name for Florence. If I could give it a worse review rating I would.

We asked if this was gelato and he said gelato is ice cream in italian . Let me make the clear, gelato is different than ice cream. If the ice cream is stacked out of the tub by 6 inches and decorated it is the same ice cream as home, if it looks solid but melted looking in the pan it is gelato. They are different. The crazy thing is this place was named GELATARIA

So the guy holds up a waggle cone, says 'cono '? I say yes, much distracted by the orders for my children. When I go to pay he charges me €10 per person! Then points to the (tiny) price list behind the counter. There was no larger pricelist on the counter. I have been holidaying in italy for years, and while I know I will pay tourist prices here, all the other businesses i visited in florence have been honest with their prices. The people in this gelateria were blatantly taking advantage of the stupid tourist. To be fair, the ice cream was very nice but with a bad after taste!
