Reviews - Three Mariners

#2 - Vegetarian - Faversham, #12 - Seafood - Swale, Pubs

Reviews summary

The reviews for this restaurant are quite mixed. While some customers had a terrible experience with subpar food and service, others had a delightful time with excellent meals and welcoming staff. The charming 18th-century building with a cozy atmosphere and candlelit dining options seems to have impressed many patrons. The owner, Jack, has been praised for his charm and knowledge of wine. The diverse events hosted at the restaurant also seem to be a draw for customers. Overall, it appears that the quality of the dining experience at this establishment can vary greatly, but for those who have had a positive experience, it seems like a gem worth returning to.

Gorgeous pub, service and environment were excellent and food was delicious. It's also dog friendly which is brilliant. Although we didn't use it, there is a lovely outdoor area and I bet it is really nice in the summer View all feedback.

What Kay P dislikes about Three Mariners:

As a local resident of Faversham we were looking forward to eating here . We had relatives over from America . Sadly our food came an hour and a half after ordering . Meals didn’t come out together , there was only 5 of us !! Sadly most of the food was not edible. One of us had pie and it was totally burnt , completely black on the top . At £50 a head . We shall not be returning or recommending Price per person: £40–... View all feedback.

We went there on new years day for dinner as it's was very good food when we went on our wedding anniversary. BUT we wasn't even sat at our table and we was told of 3 main meals that was not on the menu. 3 of us had pies 3 had burger on wood).we waited 1hr for the food all 3 pies looked like they had been cooking for the hr I called the waitress to point this out my pie had boiled dry, she offered to change it but I don't eat from drift wood or roof tiles, I felt let down as I had recommend 4 friends to join us here .my pretend pie was removed from the bill . A pie in a dish is a cheat ,not what I expected from classy established.

Lovely atmosphere. Cosy and dogs welcome. We had Sunday lunch twice but the chef doesn’t know how to cook baked potatoes. They were undercooked. Roasties are supposed to be crispy on the outside. The veg option was just shop bought cauliflower patties. Very disappointed. Price per person: £30–40

Nice pub with nice service until we went through for food. Starters had to be sent back twice only for the manager to come and tell us there was nothing wrong with them. Main courses came out cold at that point we gave up. Real shame has visited this place 10 years ago and had a great experience, would give this place a wide birth. Price per person: £50–60 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

We had a large group booking here on a day one of the chefs had called in sick. Service was slow (2 hrs before mains were served-and not all the group had starters! the children's meals also took 2 hours to appear which meant that they were getting a bit ratty (age 2,5,7&10 . Some food was excessively salty commented by more than one member of the group. The pub itself was lovely and had a nice cosy atmosphere although the menu was on the more expensive side. We should really have been told a chef was off ill at the beginning of the booking but this was only shared at the end. If we had not been told this we would have only given 1 star as the service was appalling. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

Always a joy to pop in here when visiting friends in Oare. Lovely staff, food, bar nibbles and atmosphere. Great inside and out! Very dog and child friendly also. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Loved everything about this place. From our arrival in the car park, looking up at the well kept pub, we knew we 'd have a good lunch and it did not disappoint. We felt immediately welcome if we 'd not booked a meal or wasn 't the designated driver I 'd have been very happy to stay in the bar area to drink all afternoon. The central 'Jack n Jill ' log fire was perfect to warm us up. Great choice on the menu for seafood plus duck, burger and steak. Tig who served us was lovely and the food that came progressively was delicious and not rushed. Not just the staff, but the customers too, were really friendly and chatty. Our dog really enjoyed his welcome too. We 'll definitely be back.

We’ll be back! We visit Kent often to visit family and had planned a last minute ie day before trip to Faversham to do the. Shepherd Neame brewery tour . The three mariners just outside in Oare is on a little creek and felt very cosy inside with a real log fire burning . Service was warm and friendly. Lots of fish on the menu but options for meat eaters too. We will definitely return.

Loving setting, great food and really attentive and kind staff. The day my family and I went though they had very limited kitchen staff and the wait for the food to come was quite long. We would have had dessert but didn’t fancy the long wait. I’m sure we came on a day they were short so I’d certainly recommend going here. The oysters and scallops were superb. The amount of scallops you got in the starter portion was brilliant. The Guinness was also very good which can’t be said for a lot of pubs.

This is a beautiful gastro pub with a wonderful atmosphere. The owners and staff are so kind and welcoming, and the manager, Jack is incredibly charming and knowledgeable about wine in particular. The events are worth travelling for; I don’t even live local but every time I visit it’s such a nice experience

We were greeted at the door by a lovely lady (staff member who was very welcoming and showed us to our table that we had booked. The 18th century building was absolutely stunning and was modern with a very warming rustic feeling. The pub/restaurant was fully light with candles, oil lamps and open fires (for a night in retaliation to the energy bill rises, and what a brilliant idea it was. The place was busy with a great atmosphere, and people ate their dinner in the candle light whilst listening to a talented musician/singer with his acoustic guitar. The was brilliant and very well priced at 3 courses for just £25 (I would of quite happily of paid more! . The service was brilliant. The land/lord and lady came and spent some time with us, which we soon found out that they had only been there approx a year.... wow. They are doing a truly tremendous job, and we wish these guys the very best for the future. Me and my wife have finally found a place to retreat to after a hard day. Thank you so much. The only issue/problem I had, was not being able to give 6 stars!

A pretty little pub with a nicely landscaped terraced garden. We popped in for a drink and an afternoon snack in the garden. The charcuterie board was better than I thought it would be. We had some lovely olives and good bread too. Well worth a visit.

This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service. the interieur has historical exposed beams, an open fire, heavy wooden and very tasteful decor. the cocktails are excellent! really excellent mixology. eating is good, but not as good as expected. the burger was overdue, the sole was slightly undercooked, the oysters were small and had a milky deposit on one that I have never seen in an oyster. we were brought the three fish dishes with regular sides instead of the sunday roast sides, as offered and desired. our food was also served at various times due to the nutritional requirements of one. I think this place is amazing, but and want to come back to try the food again, as the sprays were excellent. the rooms of the restaurant are divided into a way that they feel intimate, despite much space. the bathrooms are very “Pub” style, they do not just the restaurant with regard to the room, furniture, comfort, capacity or class. I'm back.

A very pleasant end of a roundabout around the oare marshes. it is a fairly nutritional pub, but there is certainly space only to sit and have a beer (and that was a Sunday afternoon afternoon). there is a pleasant, polygonal garden from the back with view of the east not the most beautiful view, but it is a more pleasant place to sit. it is of course a sheps house with its usual selection: master brew and whitstable bay pale ale on the pumps. 1698, but only from the refrigerator. in any case a welcome end of a walk to the swale and back and friendly friendly friendly staff.
