Bocca - Fairhaven
Bocca
Description
Bocca offers a mixed dining experience, with standout dishes and attentive service contrasting with some culinary missteps. While many patrons praise the delicious Italian fare, generous portions, and vibrant atmosphere, others lament inconsistent dish quality and missed expectations, particularly with items like lasagna and veal piccata. The espresso and cappuccino leave room for improvement, as do some ingredient choices, like the use of farmed fish. Despite these drawbacks, enthusiastic reviews highlight the restaurant's potential and a commitment to exceptional service. As Bocca continues to evolve, diners remain hopeful for a return to its culinary roots and consistent excellence.

Decent Italian food with a great selection. Frutti di mare had crab, shrimp, scallops, and mussles and a choice of sauce. Surprisingly extensive wine list with excellent choices by the glass. Very large dessert selection as well.
We were greeted with our reservation as soon as we arrived. The waitstaff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and prompt, but not so fast that we felt rushed. It was my wife's birthday, and I had noted that in our reservation. They surprised us with a special treat: a sparkler and a piece of cake, which was quite a nice touch. Overall, it made for a memorable celebration!
On June 27, I ordered the tenderloin tips. I made this choice because I had had it a few months ago...they were delicious. Last night the tenderloin tips were not the same. It appeared that the “tips” were a piece of steak cut up...in the shape of medallions. The meat was definitely not as tender as my first meal. Very disappointing. If there were “NO” tips available this should have been told to me. I would have chosen something else.
I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a few years, someone I had worked with for over a decade. We decided to have lunch at Bocca, a fantastic Italian restaurant. However, today we strayed from the usual and ordered a luncheon special—a lobster roll. It was on the pricey side at $32, but I must say it was absolutely worth it. The lobster meat was generously piled on a bed of lettuce in a toasted hot dog roll. There was an option to have it served hot with lemon and butter or cold with a touch of aioli. We both chose the cold lobster roll, which was fresh and incredibly delicious. Our waitress, whose name I unfortunately can’t remember, was polite and efficient. It was a wonderful lunch spent with a great old friend.
We began our evening at the bar, enjoying a drink and an appetizer. The bartenders were incredibly attentive and friendly, and we appreciated the generous pour of the martinis. After that, we moved to a table for dinner, where the food was exceptional and the service flawless. We will definitely be back!
