this restaurant deserves 10 stars. in a picturesque town in maine you will find a trully unique culinary experience. we had about 40 minutes drive to come here, but it was worth the ride. every dish feels very thoughtful. local and unique flavors. the chef is a real artist. my man started with an appetizer-fried muscheln, his escape was steak and fritz with bark and my escape was skallops over risotto. we have cut of... 100% disgusting. I have never been so disappointed with food and service. My “baked” shrimp had such a strong fishy shrimp taste that I struggled to eat it and it wasn’t baked. My shrimp was boiled. I went safe for the main course and got the burger. It was dry and VERY well done when I asked for medium. It also tasted like it had been dipped in jalapeño juice. The fries were soggy and cold. We were never brought water and was told that it wasn’t available due to the dishes being washed. My burger which I had one bite of was not removed from the bill. I was only given a 30% discount and paid for food I did not even eat. Do not waste your time or money going here. If I could give a place zero stars it would be here.
The service and staff at this restaurant were absolutely fantastic. Everyone was incredibly pleasant. Despite the regular chef being out, the food was still delicious. Even though it was busy for a Tuesday, the food arrived quickly and was hot. Everything we ordered was excellent. Our only disappointment was that we were too full from our meal to try out any desserts. We will definitely be returning in the future.
We absolutely loved this restaurant. It was hands down the best food we had during our time in Maine. Many places claim to be farm to table, but this was the first place where it truly felt like the vegetables were still fresh when they were served to us - they were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The menu mainly consists of small plates, making it easy for my partner and I to choose a variety of dishes to share. The service was attentive, yet relaxed and friendly. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to try the cocktails this time, but we will definitely make sure to try them on our next visit. The wine selection was just as impressive as the food, with a rosé that paired perfectly with our meal. The owner even helped us choose a digestif to end our meal on a high note. We can't wait to come back for another memorable dining experience.
This evening (9/13/23) was our third experience with the “small plate” aka tapas menu, which I applaud when it all comes together. Unfortunately, at Meridians, (a former fav) the new menu/ new chef are in a downward spiral. We feel as though the previous chef was exceptional, with well balanced menus for discriminating tastes, exquisite presentation, and yes, phenomenal food. The transition to whatever is going on there now must be somewhat painful for the owners. Food and service quality have markedly declined. I am shocked to the degree of the decline. I want Meridians to continue on its previous road to success, but there are too many red flags.Sincerely,Clark MillerBenton, ME.
We’ve been here a couple of times and both visits were a treat! The flavors are incredible.I would have taken pictures…But the food was far too tempting to wait.I enjoyed the raw oysters with scallions along with lobster fritters. He enjoyed the beef sliders (wagyu)And we shared pork dumplings in the most amazing brothThe atmosphere is laid back with a touch of class. Service is friendly and attentive.Definitely one of my favorite places to eat.
This was one of the best dining experiences I had during my trip to Maine. The food was incredibly fresh, creative, and delicious. The menu was smart and offered high quality at a reasonable price. Everything we tried was delicious and our server, Christine, was amazing. The owner, David, even came over to our table and poured us some amazing Amaro to end the perfect evening. It's definitely worth traveling to eat here. I would rate it a perfect 10 out of 5.
