I have been to Chateau Eza twice in the last 2 weeks and plan to go again next week. It was one of the best meals I have had in the French Riviera in the past 10 years. The food was delicious and the attention corn the staff was even better. Everyone was wonderful to deal with and we're friendly, cheerful and helpful. Go for the prix fixed lunch - it is wonderful. The carrot sorbet is delicious, the duck breast is perfect and all 3 desserts are sublime - I am a chocolate fanatic, so the Black Chocolate was excellent.
As you probably know, Chateau Eza is perched on top of a hill, with breathtaking views. It worth going for the view alone. What delighted us though was that it also has top class food and service. First of all, the reception.... when we walked in (family of four), they asked our name and immediately knew about our reservation. We were asked if we would like to start with drinks on the terrace, which we did. The drinks were served promptly, competently and with a small plate of nibbles to keep us going. When we were ready we simply got up and walked into the restaurant where the staff knew our reservation and guided us to an excellent table. Menus arrived with a smile and the excellent waiter was fully knowledgeable about all the dishes. He heard us discussing fish dishes with our daughter, who was questioning if any of the fish dishes were raw as she currently does not eat raw fish. I mention this because later, when the amuse bouches were served, the waiter had overheard our daughter's concern and taken the initiative to get her a vegetarian amuse bouche while we got a type of ceviche. The food was overall very good. The highlight is the deserts. Make sure you leave room for them. We ordered four different deserts and all were truly sublime. In terms of what could be better, the food service was a bit slow. This does not really matter in such a beautiful location, however the mains were only lukewarm when they arrived, which means they were waiting somewhere, getting cold. All in all, an excellent dinner. When in the Côte d'Azur, you would be well advised to visit this classic
