Reviews - Ganges
Reviews summary
Ganges earns steady praise for its vibrant, authentic Indian cooking and friendly, accommodating service. Diners frequently highlight the fresh in-house sauces, crisp poppadoms and standout dishes like Chicken Madras and Jalfrezi, making it a popular choice for both business meals and celebratory dinners. The restaurant’s atmosphere and attentive staff are often singled out as reasons to return. However, reviews also note uneven service at busy times—long waits, occasional cold mains, delivery delays and a few billing hiccups have tempered some visits. Overall, Ganges is loved for its flavours and hospitality, though guests may experience inconsistency during peak periods.

Every year we come to Exeter coz of folk festival in sidmuth, and every year food is just perfect!
Fantastic restaurant, highly recommended. A good selection of vegetarian dishes. I had to start Ragara Pattice and Palak Cootu Curry with one side of Brinjal Bhajee for my main. Food was very tasty and portions were a good size, I will probably skip the starter the next time. I look forward to the return and attempt of other dishes from the menu.
We always have a delicious, well presented meal. The location is immaculately clean with relaxing functions. No matter how busy they are, you know they think of your joy. Worth a visit.
A lunchtime with the family was delightful, service and food were great. The flavors of each of our dishes were simply excellent. Best Indian food I've had for a long time.

I recently dined at this restaurant with my work colleagues while in the area. The meal was decent, but the service was average at best. We felt rushed towards the end of the evening, even though we still had drinks left. The table next to us had a similar experience where their drinks were cleared away shortly after ordering. I would consider returning only if I couldn't find another option.
I brought my coworkers to Ganges Restaurant while we were working in the area. I have high standards when it comes to food, especially Indian cuisine, and I was pleased to find that all of our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was attentive and the prices were reasonable. We plan on returning soon as we finish up our work in Exeter. I only wish there was a restaurant as good as this near my home.
The food was average and nothing stood out. The service was very lacking. We did not receive all of our orders, and when we brought it to their attention, it took so long to get what was missing that most of us had already finished our meals. I would suggest trying Gandhi Indian Cuisine instead, as it is a much better option.
We ordered Palak Paneer, butter chicken and lamb tikka from here to the holiday inn express we were staying at. The Palak paneer was in a yellow sauce .. shocking but worse was that it was SWEET like sweetest custard sauce. When we called they were like oh you should have told us you don’t want sugar. Being Indian , living in London, I’ve eaten Palak paneer in hundreds of places all over the world NEVER have I ever seen it served in yellow custard sauce. Then they resent it ..the SAME Sugary Palak paneer with tons of chili . Completely in edible. An Indian reataurant that can’t serve basic dish like Saag Paneer should be shut down . Butter chicken is always in a sweetish sauce but this was laden with sugar. I don’t know what their obsession is with sugar ?? ??? Worst Dinner ever!!
