Reviews - Coffee#1 Exeter
Reviews summary
At this charming coffee shop, patrons express mixed feelings about their experiences. While the warm, friendly service from staff like Tobias and Monika creates a welcoming atmosphere, inconsistent quality in food and service has left some customers dissatisfied. Issues such as rude interactions, poorly prepared tea, and disappointing menu items overshadow the shop's delicious offerings, like the cookie and cream cake. The festive spirit appears lacking with minimal decorations, prompting concerns about holiday motivation. Despite these drawbacks, the cafe remains a popular choice for its inviting environment, efficient coffee service, and dog-friendly policy, making it a community staple.

It appears that the Christmas decorations have gone missing at this coffee shop. It has the smallest amount of Christmas decorations compared to other coffee shops. The shop itself has been renovated nicely, but it's disappointing that the manager hasn't motivated the staff to decorate for the holidays. The staff are friendly, but could improve by taking some cues from Plymouth Coffee 1.
I missed lunch so I stopped by in the early afternoon for coffee, which is always great here. The coffee was as good as usual. However, I made the mistake of ordering a sausage sandwich to hold me over. It was terrible - the sausage was poor quality and overcooked, making it very dry. It was served on a dry bun with no butter. Despite being hungry, I managed to finish it. People at a nearby table suggested I complain, but I didn't want to wait in the queue.
I used to enjoy this restaurant, but today I was very disappointed. My husband and I waited in line to purchase lunch, but a young person cut in line and was served before us. Additionally, we were served tea in a teapot with a lid that wouldn't close, which happened the previous week as well. I don't want cold tea! Maybe I am too old for this place, as there were many people with laptops. It's a shame because the cookie and cream cake is delicious.
The friendly staff, especially Tobias who is always welcoming, thoughtful and shows great customer service, have resulted in coffee one becoming our regular place for a relaxing pot of tea. It's also dog friendly which is a definite bonus.
