Al Farid - Exeter
Al Farid
Description
Al-Farid restaurant, located in a cramped historical building, offers an unlimited meze option that was enjoyed by a group of six diners. However, some were disappointed by the limited meat options and the need to pay extra for certain dishes. Despite this, the restaurant is still recommended for those who enjoy unlimited salads and specific meze dishes. The Moroccan cuisine served has received mixed reviews, with one diner feeling let down by the lack of authentic flavors. On a positive note, the food and service were praised by others, with special mention of the delicious dishes, attentive staff, and beautiful atmosphere. Many diners recommend Al-Farid for its authentic Middle Eastern food, friendly service, and unique dining experience, making it a must-visit restaurant in Exeter.

We had a wonderful time dining at Al Farid Restaurant for the first time. The homemade food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was authentically beautiful. Our group of 8 ordered a variety of Mezze and tagine dishes, and there was enough food for everyone. We were impressed by the numerous vegetarian and vegan options available. We highly recommend dining at this restaurant. Thank you.
I visited this restaurant for lunch with my family and it was a great choice. We opted for the set menu for 4 people, and the starters were so filling that they could have been a main course on their own. For the main course, we ordered the mixed shish and two tagines - one with lamb and one vegetarian. The meat was cooked perfectly, with the lamb literally falling off the bone. It felt like a lavish feast. To end the meal, we enjoyed a refreshing mint tea.
This restaurant claiming to serve Moroccan cuisine is not authentic at all. Despite the appearance of the restaurant being Moroccan-themed, the food did not live up to expectations and seemed to be a poor imitation of true Moroccan dishes. Everything we tried was subpar, and the dessert served at the end appeared to be store-bought and stale. To make matters worse, the tea was disappointing and the service was forgetful. Overall, we were highly disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great experience at Al-Farid, unique to travel several floors through tight stairways to get to the top floor. We enjoyed an all you can eat curated menu from the chef, this consists of different dishes served every 20 minutes. A real treat within Exeter
