The sushi was fantastic! However, the staff could improve their engagement with guests. We only saw our waitress when she took our order and again to collect our payment. There was no other communication during our visit. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Yumi Japanese Restaurant Bar Excelsior:
The menu is overpriced for sushi. I've got just salmon and tuna rolls, but I had more rice than fish. The server forgot about our appetizer, the selection of food is really small. They have specials rolls that many other guests choose to order but I didn't find anything that I like. Left hungry as I had 90% of food untouched. Well, my hungry husband had no desire to go to another place, so he finished that food. View all feedback.
Service was good. Fried calamari was undercooked and chewy. Sauce was delicious pretty much the only thing that saved the dish, was unable to finish. Wine by the glass was corked or had been open for to long, not a huge deal. Both rolls where pretty good nothing that stood out from any other sushi place. Beef teriyaki was ordered med rare came out temped med well to well. Over all the atmosphere was really nice and prices seem reasonable. Drink selection was good however not having a mix drink menu was a disappointment.
I was so excited to eat the food here that I forgot to take pictures of the sushi rolls, sashimi, and Tako Salad. Excellent food and service. We’ll be back soon and I’ll remember to take photos before digging in.
Not for the first time, there was no ginger and wasabi in the order. Disrespectful communication from the young man at the reception. They promised to return $2 and never did.
I had a great experience at Yumi’s Restaurant, where we tried the Hot Knight and Double Dragon from their specialties, both of which I really enjoyed. We also had the Philly roll from their classics, which was good, and the crispy rice tuna, which was a delightful first for me. This was only my second time trying sushi, and after a disappointing first experience elsewhere, Yumi’s has restored my hope in sushi. However, the service could use some improvement. One of the servers, who handled seating and water, was a bit careless. When the soy sauce pot spilled on our table, he simply said it was fine without cleaning it up. Additionally, we asked for a high chair for the baby, but he forgot to bring it.
Always a great experience. Service is good, but can be slow if you visit on a busy night (not their fault, just busy). Food is amazing, I love their freshwater eel fried roll.
