Gema D'evora is located under the medieval arches in Geraldo Square. It's a small café with limited seating. Now even more so with the required distancing of tables. However, they also have tables outside in Geraldo Square. It has counter service, meaning you have to go to the counter to select and pay for your food and then take it to your table. If it is something not ready made, such as toast, they will bring that to your table when it is prepared. The young lady who served me was very pleasant, and the toast and croissant were as expected.
Good place in main square, pastry and coffee ok. Staff very rude and arrogant, like they were doing you a favour for a payed service. I would not like to have employees like them.
Alright, are there bad pastries and snacks? Not really. The location could not be more convenient than right in the main square of the town so you 'd hope they would capitalize a little bit better. The staff was rushed the two times we were here as it was busy especially considering how off season we were here. Regardless of that, they were polite but short meeting the minimum requirements but not giving off the glad you 're here vibe we get so many other places. We sat down to eat at a table that had not been cleaned from the last guests. The treats were good as we 've come to expect in Portugal but the overall experience was just OK.
Very bad coffee and lousy service. Cafe com Leite barely had any actual coffee in it, mainly just warm milk. When we went to ask for another cup of the same coffee (café com leite), they gave us a galao. When we told them it’s the wrong coffee, they poured the same galao into a different cup and said that’s the cafe com leite. Again, we tell them that it’s not what we ordered, and only then they made the right coffee. Very strange behavior. Not recommended.
This new café with modern deco is located in the city centre and it is very touristic. They have a lot of Portuguese pastries and a great atmosphere to have a break. The staff was nice and the service was fast, the only thing to improve would be the coffee. We asked for a coffe with milk (galão) and it was really tasteless... Seamed like a warm milk only...
