Feedback
Mid Kitchen offers a variety of vegan options on their menu, with the ability to substitute non-vegan items. The food is tasty, staff friendly, and service good, though the portion size of the waffles may be misleading. Despite this, the vegan shakshuka is highly recommended. The space is small but welcoming, with positive energy from the staff creating a good overall experience. The BBQ tofu pineapple bowl was a standout. The restaurant also hosts themed pop-up dinner nights, promising a fabulous culinary experience. A solid option in Evanston for those seeking vegan-friendly and flavorful dishes.
The food left us feeling energized for hours and the staff was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic. They all worked well together and it was clear they enjoyed their jobs. While the brunch option I chose may not have been the best, I found the pancakes to be quite dry and lacking in flavor. Adding berries on top helped improve the taste. I look forward to returning to try some of their lunch options. (Updated from previous review on September 11, 2022)
This is my favorite spot for brunch close to Northwestern’s campus. Small space, but delicious food.
We will not be going back. They say they serve healthy food. Yet they cook with bad oils. I got a Buddha bowl (they did not have the Brussel sprout salad) and it was awful. Carrots did not look fresh. Looks like maybe they came from frozen. They subbedin spinach for I believe what was supposed to be kale, the falafel was overdone e almost black. The waitress got mad when Iasked what oils they cooked with. And on top of that it is way overpriced. $67 for 3 people and that is without the tip andjust 3 breakfasts and coffee. So overpriced and very underwhelming!
I stopped by for brunch and had a nice time, although there are a few things I think they could work on. Cons: -crab cakes were not very fresh and had a fishy taste as well as being over seasoned. -The hollandaise sauce was broken. -The table wasovercrowded with items and not quite large enough for our two entrees and drinks. -Had to request a new silverware roll up asone had a dirty fork. Pros: -Staff are very friendly and prompt. -Chicken and waffles have a very crisp breading and a goodportion size for the price. -Poached eggs were perfectly cooked. I’d try it again soon, I think I’d just avoid the crabcakes.
