What User doesn't like about Jilly's Bistro:
The restaurant is quite small. We went with a group of seven, and it felt overcrowded and uncomfortable at our table. There was an unpleasant smell of burnt toast in the air. With only one server on duty, we were left waiting; we asked for coffee immediately, but it only arrived after our food was served. It took about 15 minutes for the server to come take our order. They apparently were unusually busy hence the markdown on the ratings
It was a very busy sunday brunch crowd......there was one person waiting on the entire restaurant. He kept seating new people as they came in and not servicing the people at the tables. 3 tables that came in after us, had their meals and we had not even ordered yet. I noted that we had a birthday in the group and no recognition was made of it. Very disappointing
It's a wonderful place for lunch. Lunch specialities - great value and delicious. The owner even gave us a free dessert to share. Will definitely return and highly recommend.
We were surprised that they did not have a full bar, and they were from the wine we ordered and replaced another, but without reducing the price.
Easy experience; great food at very affordable prices in downtown Evanston
