Luzmila’s - Eureka
Luzmila’s
Description
Nestled in Yreka with an Eureka outpost, this busy, no-frills Mexican spot draws praise for authentic spices, standout carnitas, giant margaritas and a house-made salsa that elevates huge, value-packed portions. Service ranges from attentive and friendly to brusque, and food quality can be inconsistent—dry rice, bland beans or reheated entrees reported amid many satisfying plates like chile relleno and enchiladas. Ideal for casual dinners, movie nights and budget-minded diners who prioritize bold flavors over polish.

I had an excellent experience with the service at the Eureka location. The server was courteous, attentive, and truly went the extra mile to ensure we were well taken care of. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations when it came to Mexican cuisine. The rice was quite dry—almost reminiscent of Indian rice—while the beans lacked flavor. The tamale and Chile relleno I ordered seemed like they were just heated in the microwave. My friend, who usually raves about the burrito, found it to be just average as well. On a positive note, the salsa served with the chips was fantastic. Overall, the service was impressive, but the food fell short of what I remember from their early days. I'm willing to give it another try in hopes for a better experience!
Was surprised to find it virtually empty at 6 pm on a Saturday (only 3 other guests present) worked perfectly for me and my family (8 adults and 4 kids) service was decent no issues with our orders. I ordered a carnitas chimichanga which was pretty good although it was pretty small ?. My sister and her family frequent the establishment quite often though. Hope to try it again when I visit Eureka again.
Great flavor and quick turnaround. We had a fajita burrito and the number 4. Both were quite good. Our to go order didn't come with chips and salsa. I enjoyed it.
Got nachos there today. Nothing fancy. Seems like they microwaved them though to melt the cheese. Service was good. The folk I was with liked what they got.
Their red sauce on their dishes is watered down and gross. I decided to give them a second chance. They tried to charge me $19 for a Chile Colorado lunch place that was priced at $10. I asked why it was so much. The server said they they gave me tortillas with it and that's what differentiates the lunch from dinner place pricing. I ordered at 12:24 pm. I specifically asked for the Chile Colorado lunch place with rice and beans. He argued with me saying I did not. He said I didn't specify which one so he automatically chose the dinner plate for me. Terrible customer service and gross food.
