We were greeted warmly on arrival, and given a lovely selection of nibbles with our aperitif. The choice on the fixed priced menus is reassuringly limited, and vary from courses, but each course is small enough. The quality and presentation of the food is excellent, the service charming, and the advice on the wines, and their pricing spot on. Booking is essential, by eight pm, the restaurant was full. At euros for two including champagne cocktails and wine, we thought the value, and whole experience excellent.

In Espalion we found Le Mejane and we were thrilled. The meal was...memorable, a pleasure, the setting and service were first rate. And for the quality of what we received, the price was remarkable. We came across it years ago, but had not been to the area since, we were not disappointed, a gazpacio of melon soup, with melon sorbet, followed by ris d'anegeau and an...amazing desert, there were cheaper menus on offer, but without the ris d'anegeau. Service was friendly and efficient. When next in the area it is going to be the number one choice.
