He informed us that if we were in a hurry, our meals might take a little longer, which was appreciated. We settled in and placed our orders. Since we weren't rushed, we enjoyed great conversation with our friends. Our lunch arrived promptly, and everything we tried was delicious and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere in downtown Ennis was lovely, and we would definitely return. Plus, the prices were very reasonable.

The restaurant was nearly empty, but B... read more A few days later, after a long day at Yellowstone, we were in the mood for a good meal and decided to stop at Tavern 287. The restaurant was nearly empty, but Bruce, the owner, informed us that he couldn’t seat us because all the tables were reserved and would be filled within the next 30 minutes. We were about to leave when I thanked him for the wonderful cake from a few days earlier. Once he remembered us and learned it was my wife’s birthday, he kindly found us a spot at a window table! We felt incredibly special and appreciated. Now, onto the food! My wife ordered the homemade ravioli, which was hands down the best ravioli I've ever tasted. Her beet salad looked amazing, although I didn’t try it because I was too busy enjoying hush puppies and braised elk with risotto. The food was nothing short of fantastic. I expected the hush puppies to be ordinary, but they were anything but that. The flavors of the elk, along with the demi-glace and spices in the risotto, showcased that both the chef and the owner are truly exceptional at what they do. I left wondering how a restaurant of this caliber could be in Ennis (no offense to Ennis!). Overall, we had a wonderful experience with a super nice owner and fantastic food. What else could you possibly want?

I had the bison goat cheese ravioli (the ravioli is seasonal) and my fiancé had the prime rib (Saturday night special). Everythingwas so good. We will be back to try more of the menu!

Attentive service by the owner (we were one of two parties in there at 7pm on a Thursday night, Sept 1). No drink menu available yet (just got their liquor license) but a decent selection of red wines to complement our red meat entrees. I hadthe steak and he had the elk. Both were perfect! The risotto needed some seasoning but was cooked correctly. The mashed potatoeswere great; the veggies all were on point. The BUTTER oh my word the BUTTER. Wow..... And the macaron at the end of the meal isthe perfect touch. Thank you for a memorable meal on our anniversary trip to MT. We will be back!
