We had a really enjoyable meal here. We ate the cauliflower soup, the dumpling soup and we both had the deer for our mains. The food was very well cooked and the flavours delicious. The service was very good and the waitress very helpful. We would highly recommend this restaurant. View all feedback.
What Antonietta Dicki doesn't like about Spannort Hotel & Restaurant:
Went there on a Saturday evening with a party of 9 persons. The restaurant is nicely situated at the center of the village in an old building. The place looks very nice. But the food cannot keep up with the location. My wife and I had an entrecote with rosti and a celery puree. Both meat were ok but too cold and the rosti was way too much salted and burnt. Our friend had the trout but she also reported that the fish... View all feedback.
I have visited Engelberg only for 2 nights and stay in the Spannort Hotel. The entire hotel is super cute and has a wonderful atmosphere. The restaurant is serving very high level quality meals. The design is friendly and has a romantic atmosphere. The carpaccio i've ordered is simply amasing! The best i ever eat! The home made mayo with truffels is unbeliable, all the dressing on it is home made and perfectly fits to the raw beef. The slided piece of cheese is unmissble part of the composition and on the top the crunchy wallnut - which is roasted - just put the crown up to the entire meal. Don't miss this restaurant when you are in Engelberg!

Summarized everything was ok but from my perspective overpriced.
We (two adults, teenager and pre-teen) were warmly welcomed and shown to the round Stammtisch in the corner. The waitress noticed we spoke English and German and asked which we would prefer for the evening. The waitress for very attentive and allowed us to taste the recommended house wines. The bread was soon delivered and the starters followed shortly thereafter. The starters (we had the warm smoked salmon platter, the chicken dumplings, and the cauliflower soup) were well portioned, nicely presented, and delicious. For mains we ordered the week special (lamb), chicken breast and vegetable tortelloni. Again, they were all well presented and portioned, and delicious! We ordered the desserts (pannecotta, chocolate dessert, and sorbets) and they were promptly served. We spent a good two hours in the restaurant. It was a quiet evening but we always felt welcome and attended to.
Despite the limited choice of meals for vegetarians, I chose the only one they had on the menu - it was one of the best vegetarian meals I've ever eaten. As simple as it sounded with only vegetables on the plate, each individual type of vegetable was very well cooked, seasoned and presented. It's hard to find a good restaurant which can not only cook a good meat (my friends all had meat which was also great tasting) but also vegetables. Great service also and nice atmosphere, would absolutely recommend!
