A Hidden Gem in the Heart of the Forest – Where Time Stands Still! If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and seek refuge in nature, Hotel Waldmühle is exactly what you’ve been dreaming of. From the moment you arrive, the soothing sound of the flowing stream and the birdsong washes away all your stress. Why you will fall in love with this place: Magical Location: True to its name (Forest Mill), the hotel is nestled in a cozy, lush setting. Morning walks on the trails surrounding the hotel feel like stepping into a real-life postcard. Outstanding Restaurant: Dining here isn't just about food; it’s an experience. The local dishes are prepared with the freshest ingredients, and the flavors are unforgettable. Sitting on the terrace with a view of the forest makes the meal taste even better. Feels Like Home: The hospitality is so warm and genuine that you feel like a guest at an old friend’s home rather than just a hotel customer. The rooms are spotless, cozy, and offer a truly relaxing view. If you want to refresh your soul, do not miss this place. We will definitely be coming back!

Disappointing stay. The rooms were very basic. The walls were thin enough to hear phone notifications 3 rooms away and the traffic outside. We might as well have had no pillow with how flat it was. Unstable furniture. Shared bathroom. As for the restaurant on site, when we checked in, we had to pre-order our food for the night, which is very unusual. When we arrived at the restaurant after waiting for our time slot, we still had to wait a while, and our food came out literally ice cold on dirty dishes..yuck! When confronted, the staff seemed displeased that we complained about frozen vegetables and food floating in our beers. The kitchen staff didn 't speak German or English very well and seemed unsure about their own menu. When ordering dessert, we received only a part of what was listed on the menu, and when we nicely told them we wanted what we ordered, they started talking loudly about us in the kitchen. All food was premade food that somehow got messed up. The photos on Google for the food are not updated, so we were expecting quality food and good portions. Very uncomfortable and disappointing experience. There are not many restaurants in Elend, so I suggest eating before you arrive. The included breakfast was okay, but the food (vegetables, lunch meat, cheese) was left sitting out, and the coffee mugs were dirty. The only perk to this hotel is the normally 5-minute short trip to the train station to get to the Brocken summit. However, the road in Elend is currently blocked and requires a 23-minute detour. Pay €10 more and get a better hotel in the outskirts. Rooms: Tiny, uncomfortable, loud. Food drinks: Unsantiary, frozen, small portions.

Staff does not speak German. Communication in English is not a problem at all. I arrived late, this was not a problem. I was even cooked deliciously late in the evening. A clear insider tip, I would love to come back. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value

Our room was quite small, so we had some difficulties with our things (hiking backpacks, laying out laundry, etc. . We opted for a room with a shared bathroom and luckily only had to share it with two other guests. When the hotel is full, you definitely have to queue... The bathroom is a good size and the shower has enough space. The only thing missing is a bench or a stool to put things on. The hotel is on a main road, so the front rooms get a little more street noise than the back ones. But it was quiet at night. From the hotel you can head straight to the Brocken without having to walk along the road (the Teufelsstieg is not far and it's not even an hour's walk to Schierke . The staff is super nice and accommodating! German is sometimes a bit difficult, but English worked perfectly. The breakfast was delicious and tailored to our needs. I can only highly recommend this accommodation for a walking holiday!

We drank coffee there on Sundays and were glad to have found anything in misery at all. Cake and coffee was okay. There was a walk from Braunlage, we had no mask and we thought we had to go back on foot, but the operation helped us with 2 masks and we could then use the bus. Thanks again
