We had a birthday dinner at Furi and it was a fantastic time. The owner and staff are super kind and thoughtful. The whole group liked the food, with the less adventurous eaters enjoying shrimp fried rice, chicken chow mein, and Kung Pao chicken, and the others liked the beef with broccoli, and a couple dishes from the Specials menu. Atmosphere is relaxed. We had a great time and will definitely go back. Service: Din... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Furi Chinese:
We ordered from the lunch menu. I had Sweet and Sour chicken with fried rice and egg drop soup. She had Mongolian chicken with fried rice and hot and sour soup. The chicken is large pieces, very good, but hardly any sauce on either order. We both liked the fried rice. The fried shrimp was also good. This is a great restaurant. When you enter, the place is nicely decorated with colorful cushions on the chairs and attentive service. I have been here over ten times and love the service and food. The wonton soup is wonderful. I have ordered the soup, the broth the wonton soup has is so good. The wontons are flavorful and I could make a meal out of this. I have also ordered both fish and honey walnut prawns from their dinner menu. I agree that their fried rice has no vegetables. I actually prefer this, to the usual frozen pea and carrots medley added to fried rice at most restaurants. The portion of honey walnut prawns was generous and the walnuts were toasted. In the kitchen range, I believe they have more advanced skills than they offer. I would love to preorder some of the Hakka and complicated dishes this kitchen can put out, over the menu. One positive action, The owner comes out and recognizes you. He is eager to please , such a refreshing experience over other places. The last time I was here, a small boy greeted me and my dining partner. I especially enjoy dining at a place that recognizes you and welcomes your patronage. Both food and service are great, I recommend coming here p.
In short: An old-school (i.e., Americanized) dependable Chinese place that has probably cranked out thousands of plates over the years. Your grandparents would have loved it, and if you're in the mood, you will, too. Super friendly service and reasonable prices. In long: It's easy to see why they've held such a great rating, even if they're not doing much on the menu that nods to real traditional food. They're in a big supermarket parking lot with plenty of free parking, and there are plenty of tables inside. The decor runs to that red and gold pseudo-Chinese stuff from back in the day. It's friendly and homey, especially if you went to family dinners at the local Chinese place when Chinese food was still a hot new trend. You get water and hot fresh tea very quickly, along with a two-sided laminated menu printed in color. You get white paper napkins and forks before you even sit down. The tea was pretty damn good, and they have many other flavors on the menu. We checked out a little of everything from the old favorites. There are hot pots and a couple dim sum items, but mostly it's the greatest hits of Chinese food in America for the last 50+ years. BBQ pork This is the same dish at a lot of places you go, right down to the mustard/ketchup combo and dish of sesame seeds. They do offer nice thick slices, and I happen to like the stuff that all comes from the same distributor. One of these days I'll finally remember to ask for all mustard, no ketchup. Hot sour soup My late mom loved this so much that both us kids have a lifelong love of it. This one is not amazing; it's a lot of thickener and not much seasoning, even with a red pepper next to it on the menu. We resuscitated it a bit with chili paste from the condiment jar on the table. Beef with chili beans Beautifully cooked--tender, decent flavor. Sauce was kinda thick but the vegetables were crunchy still. Ate every bite. Emptied the chili paste jar here and got more. Green beans So good. Fresh, flavorful, cooked just to done without going over. Decent amount of garlic. Juicy dumplings Not house made. Kinda like the frozen soup dumplings from Trader Joe's--which are pretty good for late-night snacks, by the way. Good with chili sauce. We were out the door for 5 plates and a generous tip for about $70. It's a little bit of a haul for us, or we'd come back more often. The people are so nice, and sometimes these childhood-memory dishes are a treat, especially when they're done this well.

While the service was both prompt and friendly, the food was anything but memorable—in a good way, that is. The Hot and Sour Soup wasn’t hot at all and tasted rather bland. It improved slightly with some soy and chili sauce, but that just added heat and salt; it lacked the rich flavor of a good chicken broth base. On the bright side, while most places offer about 4-5 ounces of soup, this one serves a hearty 8-10 ounces. I ordered the Mongolian Beef with a request for it to be made at a 5-star level. When I mentioned the 5 stars, the server's face lit up as if I had given the go-ahead for them to create it properly. However, when the dish arrived, I noticed it didn’t have many chilis, making me question if it was indeed 5-star. In reality, it didn’t even earn a single star in my book. It was clear the kitchen completely disregarded the 5-star request. Furthermore, this dish wasn’t even Mongolian Beef; it tasted more like teriyaki. It was overly sweet, which ruined the flavor. I understand that some people can’t handle spice, like Becky from Edmonds, but the traditional version of this dish should be hot and spicy, not bland and sugary. Once again, the staff was incredibly nice, but unfortunately, the meal itself was a major disappointment. I’ve dined at Chopsticks up the street, and the food there was far superior. I had hoped I’d stumbled upon an underrated gem, but this place feels more akin to deli-style Chinese food you might find at Safeway—it lacks that true restaurant quality. While I’d consider this a 1-star meal, I’ll give it an extra point for the friendliness of the staff. However, it’s clear that it’s time to bring more flavor to the menu.
