Village Grill - Village Hotel Edinburgh

A table for Sunday dinner booked at 2PM. Armed fast, waited a few minutes to sit and were then given menus and told to help us get the starter table and someone would be over to take our beverage order immediately. The starter table had very little in both variety and quantity of food; but we could still find some “Leftover”. Back to our table, ten minutes past and we had to take the attention of an employee to our beverage order. After the service of the drinks we were asked for our meals. As it was Sunday, we only ordered the Sunday roast to say that there was no frying left of a description. This information would have been important before we sit down and order drinks. As it was, there was nothing else on the menu that we found appetite and so we paid for our drinks. The mini starters on which we were nailed were given to us for free. My best guess is that there is no chargeable option only for the starter table. The noise level was quite loud, but there was a football match, and the bar area is right next to the dining room so I can't criticize the village hard for it. Only no great experience.

The service we had from Joe was excellent. He was very attentive and helpful. We had 2 children under 18 months and that was not a problem. The food was tasty, but could have been hotter. Also, the appetizers and puddings have to be exposed, as there are quite many small black flies flying around. The cook was very friendly and committed. We will definitely come back.

Great for Saturday dinner. Good sports cover. Something happened to the burgers. Was good at the previous visit. Fish and CIOs were good. The staff was friendly, service levels were not great. It'll be back.

Food was outstanding and the range of items from starters through to dessert was fantastic. Waiter service was exceptional, very attentive without being always in your face. If I had to put any negative it would be the chef was not around much for carving which was a shame, more thought needs to be put into that side of things.

Food was terrible. Waiter was excellent. Room was quite cold. Kids eat free and I’m a member so got 25% off. Wouldn’t visit again for the Sunday lunch, service by joe I think) was best service ive seen in a long time. The regular menu is fine, not great quality, but a vast improvement on the Sunday lunch
