The Shezan Indian Cuisine

The Shezan Indian Cuisine
4.2 / 5 (15199 reviews)

Description

The Shezan Indian Cuisine earns consistent praise for bold, authentic flavours, generous portions and a warm, friendly atmosphere in Edinburgh’s city centre. Diners frequently applaud spicy classics—vindaloo, tawa chicken and tandoori grills—and many visitors highlight attentive staff and a pleasant dining experience that keeps them returning. However, experiences are not uniformly perfect: a number of customers report uneven execution (sticky or doughy naan, oily or bland curries) and occasional service or delivery hiccups. Desserts and the ability to tailor spice levels are often singled out as high points, and booking ahead is commonly recommended for busy nights.

Guests praise The Shezan’s spicy, authentic dishes and warm service, but reviews note occasional undercooked naan, oily curries and delivery/service delays.

We've been eating there with a group of 9 people. We had some starters and 9 different main courses so we could try several dishes. Everything we had was delicious and unique in taste. Among our favorites was the Tandoori Chicken Tikka. It can get a little bit loud in the restaurant but the waiters immediately reacted to our request of turning the music volume down a bit. All in all a great evening. Would recommend

Absolutely amazing! Service was outstanding and the food did not disappoint! Highly recommend the chicken biryani as it is a national favourite of many. 100% will come back again and again!

More information

Regulars note that staff will happily adjust spice levels—one customer praised a specially hotter vindaloo—and that desserts and the pickle tray often finish meals on a high note. Several guests from India found the restaurant impressively authentic, while others advise phoning ahead for a table at weekends. Roadworks immediately outside have previously affected ETA texts and deliveries, so pickup and delivery times can be unpredictable during streetworks.
