Feedback
Reviews praise Beer Kitchen's craft beers, generous portions and buzzy atmosphere; some note occasional slow service and higher canned‑beer prices.
The lunch menu has a number of appealing options and as we were still fighting off the dreaded lurgy we opted to have a sandwich with extra chips. I’m not quite sure what we were expecting from our sandwiches of pulled ham hock and fish fingers but we were certainly very pleased to see what arrived. Mr E quickly admitted he had never had a fish finger sandwich. The poor boy has had a sheltered life. That was all about to change. Except the fish finger sandwich was literally a massive bit of fish sandwiched between two slices of chargrilled bread. Both sandwiches were tasty. My ham hock was well cooked was the right combination of salty and sweet. Jonathan’s fish was fresh and crispy. It was a sizable piece of fish and much more than we had expected. The chips were so good they could almost be eaten on their own. Big, chunky, fluffy chips was exactly what we needed to help us fit the lurgy. The service was pretty quick and friendly. The list of beers is fantastic and there are more than just Innis Gunn beers on the menu. The menu is full of tasty dishes which would work well with beer, don’t expect fine dining but tasty gastropub food. The only thing I didn’t like was the side of average salad. I had expected something a little more exciting.
Me and my boyfriend headed to the Beer Kitchen for dinner before the cinema on a Friday evening. Luckily we managed to get a table as the place was packed! Most of the customers are people enjoying after work drinks, but there were many people also having food. As the name suggests the Beer Kitchen has a huge selection of beers, Sam ordered an ale and I ordered a raspberry beer. We decided to share the haggis donut to start and I chose the fish and chips for my main; after some deliberation Sam opted to go for the lamb shank. The haggis donut was delicious but when I saw the size of my fish and chips I realised that I definitely did not need a starter! However, it was very tasty so I would recommend sharing rather than a starter to yourself. The fish and chips were also great, although I prefer slightly less chunky chips, but that's just my personal taste. Sam thoroughly enjoyed his lamb shank too. I would definitely come back to the Beer Kitchen for a casual meal during the week or at the weekend. If you are looking for a quiet spot then this isn't it, but I love a lively atmosphere so it was great for us.
We were fortunate enough to be invited to launch event which was fantastic and I have been itching to go back since. This time we had the intro and seasonal beer flights which meant I could introduce my friend to the delights of the rum finish and wheat beer varieties. We got some nibbles only this time which were yum and we have tasted the food previously so I know its good. When you go, try the rare oak pale ale, its superb. Probably the best bar in Edinburgh especially if you are an Innis and Gunn fan!
I went to Innis and Gunn at the shore in Edinburgh, on Sunday 6th of June. I can't describe in words how fantastic it was. My friend and I ended up spending the whole day there, and it was simply amazing. It's not just the beer or food (both excellent it's the people who work there that make the difference, and create an amazing atmosphere and have great banter. The Sunday team was truly great. I'm afraid I don't know their names, as let's be honest....I had few drinks; but there were two girls (I think one of them was Eileen and the guy and he had vans top on. Just really want them to know that I had a great time, and that they are soooo good at what they do, and that the place is really lucky to have them working there. I will be back, no doubt about it. I treated my friend to a night out in Edinburgh in Sept '20 for her Birthday through COVID and actually got a wowcher meal deal for two steak and chips with a side and a drink for here at Innis and Gunn. Neither of us had been before so were looking to try somewhere different. With this being a 'wowcher deal ' I was a bit scared it wasn 't up to much however I was soooo wrong. The staff were super friendly, talked both myself and my friend through everything. We had hummus with dips and they made my friend her own special dip as she had never tried this before and was unsure of the flavour that came with the deal. We ordered extra chicken wings which were amazing. The steak and chips came out to perfection. Onion rings on the side and we had a few extra drinks also. Compliments to the chef!I was so grateful to the team for their superb customer service and for this being a wowcher deal was absolutely amazing. The steak was so worth the full price so we will definitely be back. Great work and a massive thanks to Kirsty, Ciara and Calum and all the team for making my friends birthday dinner so special. especially when things seem to be so dull at the moment and going out now is not the same. You guys made this a night to remember and nothing was a hassle. Keep doing what you do, great customer service thank you
